We are good until January 31st on the NOA2. We will get it extended by 4 more months after so it is valid until May when she will come.

Any idea how to get your NOA2 extend it's validity? Thanks :)

Dont worry! :) i was freaking out too. did the math today and was waiting a total of 31 days which is totally normal based on statistics.

Hey guys!

So to follow up on my post yesterday. My fiancé got home and it turned out to be an RFE. USCIS weren't satisfied with his birth certificate that we sent in as proof of his American citizenship. Apparently they don't accept hospital issued birth certificates (didn't know that was going to be an issue). We called and they were less than helpful. So my fiancé is going to meet with the local immigration office and see what they suggest. Hopefully we can resolve this soon and get our NOA2 very quickly! Strangely NOTHING has been updated online about our case... so that concerns me going forward because I rely on those to keep us updated.

I'd love some support right now. I'm pretty sad about this temporary road block!

Shouldn't be a big issue. Have him contact the registrar where he was born and request a certified birth certificate. Can even google online his place of birth to get information on birth certificate issuances n price and such. Blessings.

I'm sorry about your RFE... but it could be an easy fix. I kinda knew my hospital birth cert wouldn't work because it didn't work when obtaining my passport. I had to call the county health center in my state to request an official birth certificate. They contacted the city I was born in and I gave them $30-40 dollars and it was mailed back to me in 3 weeks or less. I hope this helps! Good luck.

Congrats! Isn't it an awesome feeling? It's like Christmas... you knew it was coming, but where it gets there, it feels wonderful. I'm going crazy with lists of things I think I need to do to prepare for my fiancee's arrival.

I am sorry for the RFE, but there is always worse. Just think about we got lucky to hear back from them within one month.

I know it is like something more to do, but better in that way that having your petition not approved.

I don't know about birth certificate, my fiance submitted a copy of the official one that luckily he had at home. So, I can only support you morally.

You want to Google the Department of Vital Statistics for your state. They should be able to provide a certified copy of the Birth Certificate for a fee. Delaware is $25.

Hello there! I'm happy to see someone from Delaware too from the September filers! But my fiance is on the south side, near Maryland. I'm glad you got your NOA-2 already. We are still waiting for ours (praying to get it this week).

Hi friends!

I'm freaking out! My fiance's mom just texted me saying that he's gotten mail from immigration and it was sent from California. We're currently waiting for our NOA2. I checked our status online and nothing has changed - it still says it's our case has been received. Did anyone get a hardcopy of there NOA2 but not have thier online case updated? Could it be an RFE? I'm just confused because nothing has been updated electronically.

So what could this letter be?! We already received our NOA1 hardcopy. He won't be home from work for another 4 long hours. Please help! :)

Awww... Cheer up! An RFE is just a little bit delay, but not a denial. Plus the document needed can easily be acquired and provided, so I think you will be on the next phase before you know it. At least they're working on your case now, right? Ours are still untouched. So you're blessed! :)

So has your status on the website already been changed to "RFE Mailed"? I was bothered when you said you received the hard copy of the RFE, but when you checked the status online, nothing has changed. It got me wondering if we are the same way, so I can tell my fiance to check his mail. Sometimes they don't get delivered. He had to get the NOA1 hard copy from his post office.

They won't accept hospital issued BC's. They have to be the official one issued by the state (or county) of birth. I had to do this when obtaining my US passport several years ago. Having lived in Florida, I had to contact the records department in Illinois. It didn't take long to receive the copies, but it isn't cheap. Most places have an option for expedited mailing when ordering them as well. It's worth the extra cost is you are wanting to get the correct document back to USCIS asap.

I'm sure this has been covered before on this thread but a couple questions, after receiving your NOA2 hard copy, when is the best time to start contacting NVC? Should you start contacting them or wait for a letter in the mail like the hard copy states? It's been 12 days since receiving our NOA2 hard copy and just want to make sure we're not pointlessly waiting around when we could be doing something else! Thank you :)
