[Moderator hat off]

An item in the Mexican Constitution itself says something closely to the effect of "Mexican citizens who enter another country without their own papers being in order are in violation of Mexican law." I'll try to research the precise language and source.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Well, not that, but found a detailed, eye-opening "Learning about Immigration Policy from Mexico":

That is indeed interesting! It seems that Mexico wants only healthy (passed a medical, both physical and mental), moral (people who have not broken the law). And the catch-all is they can deny entry to anyone if it is deemed not in the best interest of Mexico. Sounds very much like the requirements to enter the USA legally.

And therein lies the rub... LEGALLY.

It's funny how so called patriots venerate the Confederate flag.

I don't know why you think it is funny. Perhaps there are people whose grand-relatives fought and or died in that war, and it has meaning for them. I have noticed that US veterans today seem to be pretty proud of the US flag. As do people from other countries their own flags (just guessing here). There are also some who happen to venerate the pride flag. I also don't think that is funny.

It all depends on your perspective. From my perspective the Confederate flag represents the highest form of treason committed against the United States, the secession and war by the Confederacy against the United States. Why a so called patriot would venerate the Confederate flag makes no sense to me.

You say treason, but I am guessing that those in the South who were tired of being told what to do by those in the North saw it as fighting for freedom. Just as Americans did against the British (and many Brits today still think Americans are traitors). It all depends on your perspective, I would imagine. And we were not around back then, so all we can do is suppose about it today.

Be very afraid texans. Mexican drug gangs can torture, enslave and behead whole towns of gringos and upload it on facebook while taking time to eat lunch at taco bell!

I doubt if Texas has anything to be afraid of. Texas will just take over Mexico . They should of done it when they got their independent from Mexico

Remember the Alamo

It is very clear why the Confederacy was formed and why the Civil War was started: Slavery.

Again I don't care if people own Confederate Flags just don't display them on public lands and don't called yourself a patriot of the U.S. if you own and hold the confederate flag so dearly.

LMAO - if you want to boil decades of complex sociopolitical issues down to one bullet point, feel free to show your ignorance in doing so. Can't help folks who don't want to be helped.

I don't really have a strong feeling either way on the flag, but the above is a laughably shortsighted version of American history.

How is it short-sighted? Just read the declarations of secession of the southern states, they make it real clear that the institution of slavery was the reason for the war.

And Lincoln's name not being on the ballots in 10 Southern states had nothing to do with it, right? Nor the desire of the North to take what the South had?

Republicans in the North felt slavery was evil, and that the Democrats who owned plantations in the South had too much control of the national government. Meanwhile, the population in the North was booming, and the South was losing electoral votes like crazy.

There were actually a fair share of folks in the South who were opposed to slavery; perhaps because they didn't own any, or did not enjoy the huge plantations that were spread around the South.

Either way, from my reading of history, slavery was a part of the reason behind the secession (maybe even a large part), but it was not the only reason. People fought against each other not only to keep slaves, but to keep their own voice in the government. The very same reason most of the people in the US at the time had left their (oppressive governments) countries to move to America.

If you honestly believe that, I know about a great deal on a bridge. Most British people don't give a toss.
