Hello Everyone,

Can anyone please tell me if the intent to marry form that my fiance will submit for our K1 application has to be the original signed document (that he would snail mail to me) or can he sign it and scan it in his home country and e-mail it to me?

Thank you for your help!

Rebecca

Hello. The thing you are referring to is a Letter of Intent to Marry. There are templates (examples) online. Make sure it looks just like the templates online.

You may type the letter, however it must be SIGNED physically in blue ink by both of you. And you will both need your OWN letter of intent to marry. So you will have 1 letter for each of you.

I was approved for my k1 visa yesterday and we never ran into any problems. I had my fiance print the letter at his home and send it by DHL (this is the fastest shipping method available) to me. Wait until you know literally everything you need him to sign because DHL is expensive, even for just sending papers. He also will need to hand-sign a lot of other pages of things, so make sure he does that.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, everything is still fresh in my mind so just let me know. :)
