How to bring a nanny from overseas ?

Even if you are successful in finding a way, I think the fact that she doesn't have a history of helping you out, established a business connection with you, would be difficult in proving the legitimacy. Immigrations could see it as you just trying to bring a friend into the US. The way you've written your post makes it sound like she hasn't begun nannying for you yet, which means that you have virtually no history of business with her to verify your desire to bring her as a nanny using the argument you want someone you trust with your kid.

You also have to be careful because if she gets denied a visa for working in the US, that could make it extremely difficult to come as a visitor.

It's different situation sending your kid to school , and having a person living in your house helping you with a newborn . I've seen a lot of videos what "trained and experienced professionals" are doing with kids not knowing there is camera in house . I was horrified ! :/

There is no visa that will allow you to bring your friend over as a nanny.

If you want a nanny, then you will have to overcome your fears and hire a U.S. person. Your only other choice is no help.

Hi guys . I need advice . Recently i gave birth , and i was thinking of getting nanny for my baby . I have a good friend from another country , we went to school together . She is currently unemployed ,she loves kids and I think she would be a good nanny to him . I would like to bring her to USA .Don't judge me ,or think i'm a bad mom,it's just I feel like a single mom most of the time even i'm married . My husband is a truck driver and I'm home alone most of the time with so much stuff to take care while he is on the road . Is there any way to bring her here ? Thank you .

Hi Bebuska,

I worked as a nanny in the United Kingdom for 20 years (i'm Australian) I went though an international nanny agency to obtain the correct working visa.

I would suggest contacting one and asking them as they will be able to guide you better in the right direction. You could look into the J-1 cultural exchange visa.

Good Luck.

I don't mean to bash you or anything but as "technically" a single mum right now I thought I'd give you my opinion. My fiancé is the US citizen and we haven't seen each other for almost a year now. I spent 7 out of 9 months of my pregnancy without him and unfortunately he wasn't here for the birth of our son. He was only able to visit for 4 weeks when our son was about 6 weeks old. I may be in my home country but I have no close family or friends that I could've or am relying on. I have raised our son alone for the most part whilst going through this process, so it is possible. You can do it.

As for your question; I think it'll be VERY hard to bring your friend to the US. There are plenty of people who are on your doorstep to hire as a nanny. If you have the resources (cash) then you can afford the top-notch variety, as in you can do plenty of background digging to make sure they are qualified and capable. If you're seriously worried. But like others have said, in immigrations eyes, they'll see it as a possible free ride to the US for your friend. Don't take away a job from a decent nanny already at your fingertips sorta thing.

Another thing, may be this is just me but I wouldn't even dream of hiring a nanny even if I could afford it. The bond that you develop with your child is priceless and I personally feel a nanny would hinder that. I'd miss too much. Our son is almost 1 and it would kill me to miss any new thing he does.

Good luck! My two cents anyway.
