This is from my fiancee who had her interview this morning - we were approved! Good luck to everyone else!

"So, my interview was today at the consulate in Montreal! I arrived super early, around 6:30am, to be second in line. We waited until 7:10am, then the guards came out to put the barricade out, which went the opposite way to where I was standing (go to the left!) and I was sent to the back of the line. Thankfully, a few people were turned away because they were early for their appointments, and when I showed my appointment letter the lady gave me a little laminated card saying I was applicant number 3. The card said to have the following documents ready for immediate collection: interview letter, passport, medical exam, and two passport style photos (they did not ask for my ds-160 although others had to present it for different visas) and then I continued through security.

I waited closest to the elevator, remembering a previous visajourney post saying to be close to catch the first ride up and exit through the back of the elevator. Since I already had my number, the lady told me to sit in the middle and wait to be called. Number one was super late…like really late, so they ended up calling me instead. (as previously mentioned odd booths call odd numbers, even booths call even numbers). I went to the first booth and the lady I met with was super kind! She asked for my appointment letter, passport, medical exam, and two passport style photos, then continued to find my file. She came back, asking polite questions as she added my documents to the file. She took my fingerprints and asked me to sit back down and until I was asked to be called to another window. About 30 minutes later, I was called to booth 7, the man there was quite nice to start off with , but I had a mini heart attack when he asked how long I was in South Africa for (where I met my fiancé). I said I was there for 5 or 6 months. The officer went on to say how I need a police record if I was there longer than 6 months and asked if I had it or not. I said no, because I was only there touring, I had no visa or anything, and he said he would came back to it later. By this point I was freaking out thinking he wasn't going to issue my visa and thinking of all the things I could have done. When he asked again he asked if I was sure if it was 6 months or maybe less( he seemed to be giving me the benefit of the doubt. He asked to see my old passport ( that had my travels to South Africa in it) and concluded my time there was less than 6 months and then I did not need a police record. He was really hard to read…I wasn’t sure if he as super nice and casual about things or if he was annoyed by the whole thing. In any case, he typed some more on my file, wrote some things on the folder. And then handed me the welcome to the USA letter. All in all I was back at my hotel (Hotel Le Dauphin - highly recommend) by 9am calling my fiance to share the great news!!!

Word of advice to all that follow is not to stress, be early and prepared, and answer all questions honestly. I feel like number 7 gave me the benefit of the doubt and let me show the facts before dismissing me saying I needed something more. I saw a couple of people turned away and told to submit their forms again because they had filled out minor details wrong. I'm so happy this part is over and I don’t need to stress about anything else!"

And guys don't bother too much about getting in line early.

Tons of people in line are for non immigrant visa.

Make sure security guard give you number for immigrant visa.

Otherwise you will have to go back downstairs to get it.

My fiancee said she had a small purse the size of a normal hard-covered book. She had a large binder that she carried separately. I can only speak on behalf of her, though.

I'm got my K-1 interview scheduled for 7:40 AM next Thursday. I'm nervous and stoked. I'm sure you all know and understand the feeling. Haha.

So. Just to make absolutely, 100% sure, those 2 2"x2" passport photos are of me and *not* one of me and one of my fiancée? :)

what has been people's experience with regards to the Interview. Are the officials mainly concerned with the documents they've asked for you to provide, or, did they ask for different things regarding relationship to spouse, affodavits from witnesses with regards to marriage, pictures, receipts, etc., etc. I'm just wondering what I should bring along in that aspect, if any.....

Thank you. My interview is Oct 20, :D

Yea they're of you. My fiance was making comments about how he's spent almost 100$ on passport photos alone LOL.

And good job! My fiance's interview in Montreal for K1 is next Tuesday. I'll post his experience (or what I can get out of him because he'll prolly be a bit mind blown that the process for K1 is pretty much done) when I get a chance.

Best of luck to ya'll!
