Paying AOS bill, I used Wires routing number as checking account. Now what?

I was paying AOS fee of $120. In the box where I'm supposed to enter my checking account number, I typed it Wires Routing Number. In Routing Number box I typed in correct Routing Number. NVC page shows the fee is paid. But $120 hasn't been taken out obviously from my checking account. What should I do now? Anyone else have this situation and how did you resolve it.

Hmm. This is strange. Usually, when the payment is pending it will say "In Process". If they were unable to take the amount it would say "Payment Failed" and once the payment has been processed and money is taken, it will say "Paid". But, you're saying the amount wasn't taken from your bank account.

I think it's best to call NVC and ask the rep if they received the money and explain what happened. While you're on the phone, you can also have them review your Choice of Agent form so they can invoice your IV fee and send it to you.

You know that actually may depend on the bank account. The day after I submitted my payment online, the money was shown as pending on my bank account (I have Chase by the way).

Either way, it's best to call NVC to confirm. Albeit, it will take a couple tries to get through and you will be on hold for quite a bit. On the bright side, you'll be able to have the COA reviewed on the phone if you haven't received the IV yet.

I know this payment isn't going to show up in my bank account. I used the wrong bank account number. Even though on NVC page it shows paid. it hasn't been from my account. And it's not going to be paid from my account. What might have happened is that the wrong account number I used probably is a valid account number and NVC took that money from wrong account number.

But, when you try to make the payment, it asks for the name of the account holder. If the name on the wrong bank account doesn't match the name you entered, then how would the bank authorize the payment? I would say, call up NVC to fix the matter.

ISSUE RESOLVED

ISSUE: Used incorrect checking number when paying AOS bill. Called NVC to explain that I used incorrect checking number.

RESOLUTION PROCESS: NVC suggested I called my bank to have the payment correct. I called my bank. Bank couldn't find the transaction because I couldn't tell them the incorrect account number that I used. Bank said NVC will eventually catch on and reject the payment and should give me the option to pay again. Called NVC again. NVC said email asknvc@state.gov with case number in subject line and both beneficiary and petitioner's name and date of birth on the body of email. (NOTE: Whenever you email NVC, you should include these info anyways). The body of the email should also describe my situation. NVC also told me that I could just wait it out and NVC will eventually catch on and reject payment and allow me to pay again. Before I could email asknvc@state.gov, NVC did catch on my incorrect payment. The marked my payment rejected and allowed me to pay again. Which is what I did. And this is what my NVC account looks like:

I'm posting this solution in case anyone else is having this problem. I know when you search for immigration question on Google, most of the top link comes to Visajounery.com. Hopefully, this will help people someday, somewhere, somehow.

My case... I typed in my checking account # but mistakenly chose SAVINGS instead of CHECKING on the drop down menu for type of account. Anybody experienced that? And what happened? Status now shows IN PROCESS as of 12/27/2015
