That means signed as well right? Sorry if this is reduant, just want to make sure.

Also, when filling out the G-325A form (Biographic data), she fills it out and signs in her married name as well?

Also, do we need a G-325a for each form we are filing (I-485, I-765, I-131) or will just one suffice?

She should sign every single piece of paper with her married name where it says to sign the paper.

Only one.

Thanks, that's good to hear, glad they are sticking to the "paperwork reduction Act" stuff you see at the end of every form.

Scanning over the instructions once more, regarding the passport photos (as you said, we need 6 of Danielle for the 3 forms in total), do I need any myself? The only form I am technically filling out is the I-864 (Affidavit of Support), and at quick glance, I am seeing nothing at the moment.

Also, just in general, with this whole thing, I don't see anything regarding "proof of relationship" like with the I-129 Petition, so I don't need to submit anything like that, right? My main reason for asking is because my sister-in-law did most of our photos for the wedding, and she hasn't uploaded them yet, so we haven't got access to them right away. I've read the proof more or less comes at the interview (should they request one).

No you don't need any photos of you :)

It depends on who you ask. I was told by an Immigration Officer during an InfoPass that it's a plus if you send pictures and maybe even a story about how you met and relationship (kind of like with the I-129F) and I did so. Some say that is BS and that you don't have to. But the Immigration Officer said if I were to have an interview it could cut down the time of the interview if I had already sent in proof showing bona fide marriage. We also sent in lease with my name on it. We were supposed to add me to his bank accounts and add proof of that but family emergency got in the way of that. So it's up to you what you want to do. Won't hurt, might do something might do nothing.

That makes sense. As I said, we don't have many pictures of us at the moment and we met online, and we had plenty of proof with our I-129, including a letter from my mother.

I do actually have my copy of my lease with both our names on it, so maybe I could photocopy that and send it in. I also have a letter from the power company after I added her to the account. The only thing right now is joint bank account isn't an option until she gets a SSN, which we plan on going Monday since we got our marriage certificates in the mail today.

Phew, that was nerveracking.

When to the SSA office nearby (a 25 minute drive) to get Danielle her SSN as everyone recommends before the I-94 expires (we have until 10/17/2015, so plenty of that). So you guys were right, can't apply for her card with her married name, because "that's not what is in the INS databases", even though I mentioned I called them 3 times, talked to 3 different representatives, and all said it was doable. Either way, good thing I brought an application with married name and maiden name.

Ok, even so, the lady at the desk (who was a total grump and grouch, just like nearly every other person I've seen in a building like that), heard us say "K-1 Visa" and immediately shook her head and said it wouldn't work unless we had our EAD. I mentioned that's not the case, I've read and have been told otherwise by people in the same department, etc. She was so dang determined to just say it wouldn't work and Danielle wasn't allowed to get one. She reluctantly said "well I can try entering her but it won't work, I'm telling you". So after about 5 minutes after her keying in the form data, surprise surprise, no problem. She just said like "It's only valid until October 17th" which is the I-94 expiration date, and I said that's fine because we are filing for EAD tomorrow and she just re-iterated once we get that we can change Danielle's card to her married name.

Now did we do everything right? Judging by the way this lady talked, it really felt like we were doing something we weren't supposed to and like we were a-holes, but then again, it seems like most of the people who work in those types of buildings seem to have a piss-poor attitude. I wasn't rude at all except when she just shook her head and assumed things wouldn't worked, and I just kept pointing out how I called their department and asked 3 times beforehand, and then she "tried" and it worked. Once she was proven wrong, she was a person of very few words.

I swear, I get such horrible anxiety going to places like this because we put so much importantance of our lives in the hands of people who seem to have a bad attitude like that.

Yet another SSA worker that does not know their own job. You did nothing wrong, and the SSN does not expire. You can go update it to the married name once you have the EAD. You can have the stipulation removed about only being valid with DHS authorization once you have the green card. The number will never change.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah, Danielle is filing all the AOS, EAD, AP paperwork with her new married name (which everyone here has advised us to do), putting herm aiden name in the "other names used" slots. So when we get the EAD, it will be her married name, which will difer from the SSN she'll get in 2 weeks. The lady said once we get the EAD just bring that, and a marriage certificate in and we can do the change.

And yeah, another worker who doesn't know their stuff, right? What pisses me off more is the 3 workers when you call the general number who said we could, and should, apply for her SSN with the married name. Otherwise we would have gone a few weeks ago. But yeah, these types of workers always freak me out because they are so grumpy and sour and you are entrusting them with your most important paperwork.

Yes it's like with the DMV you almost have to do the work for them. It's like they got insufficient training before they started working.

Glad she finally has her SSN now! And if she wants to do the name change before EAD that's totally doable too (even if they say no). I did mine right after we got married. Just bring passport and marriage license. Good luck with everything! :)

Thanks, gonna send out the rest of the paperwork today after I get home from work.

But I don't think the name change will be possible until the EAD, at least not if this lady is working there. And she looks, sounds like she's worked there 30 years, and you can't pick and choose what receptionist you get, especially when she was the only one there (small town). That being said, she told me that Danielle can't get the name changed until it's reflected in the "INS systems" and whatnot, and once she gets her EAD card, then we can do it because it will be "in her married name". That seemed to be one thing she would not budge on and obviously I can't force her to sit down and push it through, as much as I'd like to. I think the blocker to doing it anytime sooner is her crappy attitude and refusal to listen and work with the very people she is supposed to be assisting.

Plus if I change it, I still have to come back with the EAD, no? That'd just add another trip (the place is about 30 miles away, and OF COURSE it's only open during normal working hours of 9am - 4pm), so I'd need to kind of leave work early again. But yeah, I feel like there's no chance in hell of changing it, even though everybody but the lady at the counter says it's possible, she's the one with the power, and she definitely comes across as a stubborn older worker who hates her job and refuses to learn anything.

Thanks though!

Now see, this is exactly what those SSA employees that think they know everything need to do...just enter in the name in the computer!! The computer will show them as being eligible for the SSN.

I'm going to leave this question for someone else with more experience to answer but I believe she will now have one that says she's not allowed to work. If she goes after the name change she'll have one where it says allowed to work with permission from DHS and then after the Green Card that will arrive in a year she can have that removed.

The reason why I'm not 100% sure is because I've had an SSN since 2011 with permission to work from DHS and nothing changed after my name change though I thought they would just issue one where it said I was not allowed to work.

Yeah, I've heard there's no difference in card issued. In fact, the lady was like "she'll only be able to work until October 17th, then she can't until she gets her EAD". So I mean that was news to me, Danielle has no intention of working until she gets her EAD, so I assume it's just more or less flags that are lowered and raised "in the system".
