Calling all those who immigrated to CANADA before turning 16...

I have my interview next Friday in Montreal, and I've spent the whole night getting my documents sorted, photocopied, and just plain old organized. Besides getting my US passport photos, which I still need to do, everything is in order except...

I have my Canada police check, which is fine, and I know it's all that I need since I have only resided in Canada since turning 16 years old. However, I was born in England, and I immigrated to Canada as a Canadian citizen (my dad is Canadian) when I was 11 years old. Canada is a pretty diverse country so I know some of you were born somewhere else and were/are in the same situation! I also KNOW I don't need a police check from England, however will the US consulate take my word for it if I tell them that I moved here when I was 11? How else will they know?

Basically I'm asking if anyone had to provide any specific documents that proved when exactly they moved to Canada in order to be exempted from having to give a police check from a country where they had lived for more than 6 months due to being under 16 y/o.

I have photocopied (and will bring the original of) my citizenship card which is dated when I actually immigrated but I'm not sure if this will suffice.. Do I have to prove my Canadian domicile since then? Or do they simply not go into depth with this matter? My last three passports are Canadian, although I don't have the first one anymore, which would cover the date that I actually turned 16.

Please share your suggestions/experiences and thank you so much in advance!

Hi I moved here when I was 13 years old. I was not asked to provide anything from my home country other than my original birth certificate, and I only provided the canadian police check. They can see on the application ds 260 where you listed all the address you have lived at and all the schools you attended. They will take your word for it but you also have your citizenship certificate that should be more than enough of evidence.

Keep original documentation ready providing proof when you landed in Canada. If you have passport from back then with stamp, it will help. And any original documents proving your residence in Canada. Such as educational document, lease etc.

They probably won't ask for it, but make sure you do have enough documents.

Thanks! My passport that I had when I landed here permanently is of course the only old passport I can't find. I have my citizenship card but I'm going to try and either get some kind of bank record (I opened an account straight away) or school record to bring along just in case. Thanks for your help!

My husband was born in South Korea and came over to Canada when he was 8. He just had a Canadian police check and his birth certificate from SK, they asked him when he got here and then moved on to another topic.
