Vermont CS? Open or closed?

I heard on VJ from 2 posters that Vermont was closed 2 years ago. But someone said today their app went to Vermont. Is Vermont open or closed?

Vermont was not closed they just stopped working on some of the forms. The lock box will forward to the apporiate service center to handle those forms.

Vermont stopped taking K1s (at least on a regular basis) in late 2013. Are you sure this person was a K1 applicant and not CR1? Very recently it looks as if a few K1 applicants have been routed there (literally: 3 that I've seen in my entire time on VJ). No one knows why. Or if this is an indication that Vermont will start processing them again, or if it's a fluke, or what. Vermont has been "open" this whole time to all manner of other visa petitions. I-129fs (K1 visas) are a very very tiny drop in the bucket that us US immigration.

I just checked her profile and yes she's a K-1 applicant (unless she made a mistake on the profile). Case started in Texas and was forwarded to VSC. Maybe this has to do with TSC not taking new cases-I think she is from Vermont.

Who knows, honestly. But for sure she was routed to TSC from the Lockbox (and sounds like she probably filed before April, right) and then was transferred to VSC for whatever reason. It's all just a guess from our end. Maybe they pull a few petitions per month and transfer them up there for training purposes? Maybe people with particular "red flags" in their files or IMBRA cases transferred there (which as sort of been my own personal hunch). But, for now, it is clear that Vermont has not been routinely taking new files since about the end of 2013. And Texas has not been taking any since about late March 2015. Any of this could change any day, and probably without announcement, but from what we can see from here...the "VSC does not take new petitions" is true.
