Hi everyone. My fiancee's son will have just turned 14 when we have our interview and apparently must attend the interview with us at the Embassy in Bogota. Does anyone have any experience with this and any idea of what possible questions he might be asked? We know he could be quite nervous as we all can be and hope to prepare him some for the experience. In the end, it can be a great learning experience if it's done properly of course. But we want to make every attempt for it to be positive.

Her son (and daughter) and I get along very well. Of course they don't know me as well as she does but we have spent quality time together. He's just a normal 14 year old...and I'm a pretty normal guy so the relationship hasn't been awkward or anything.

Thanks for your help.

Jack

My wife has interviewed at the Bogota embassy 3 times and said they were nice to her on all 3 occasions. And from reading other embassy reviews, I get the impression that over all the people there are nice and make the interview process as friendly as can be. And if they're nice to 30 and 40 yr olds, I'm guessing that your 14 yr old son will be treated well. You might look at some of the interview reviews on this site from Bogota for a flavor of questions that they ask. Good luck!

Hi Russ and Caro (again:-). I know...I do see that the embassy is generally reviewed well. I'm just kind of thinking that we could help him be a little more comfortable by letting him know what to expect. So you don't anticipate any unusual questioning of him in particular, that's good. But I wondered if they would ask about his father or anything like that which may make him uncomfortable...simply because he's just turning 14 and personal questions are awkward for a 14 year old. jajjajajja

I have the exact same question lol I guess we'll know next week...my daughter is 15yrs old she will go to the embassy with me.

From another Colombian member I heard in her interview the consul requested to talk to her 14yr old son, he only asked if he was excited about going to the States and if everything his mom said was true,I will let you know how it goes!!

:D
