The irony is - and you'll probably appreciate it - that you see bigotry stemming out from those who are themselves considered lower working class in their own home countries. For some reason they believe their whiteness - or perception thereof - warrants them the notion their skin color resets their social position somehow.

From what I've seen in the US some people want to make out that not only is racism non-existent but that racial inequality is actually deserved.

From what I read the man's motive had more to do with his being black and gay than his victims being white.

Hypothetical question:

You meet a person and know a person for many years. They are sweet, kind, and bear no harm toward anyone. A few years later you get back in touch. The person is having a psychotic breakdown. Perhaps they are bipolar, perhaps they are schizophrenic, perhaps they even have multiple personalities in control of their thoughts and feelings. They say insane hateful things, they are paranoid about thinking they have been personally wronged. Obsessed and fixated on aggression. This is not the person you once knew.

Now, is that person a racist as it is ideologically defined, or are they just suffering from an untreated mental crisis, which if left out of control could become something unforgiveable?

I think there is a clear difference between people who just snap and people obsessed with extreme politics who decide to act upon it.

No. It sounds like someone who is having an irrational conversation with a Nazi who is in jail, who is also having delusions, extreme paranoia, and an obsession with non-reality. That's the point I'm getting at here with the hypothetical question. Do you know anyone with the psychological issues mentioned above? Maybe I should use an ol' grandpa with dementia as an example who suddenly behaves: hatefully, aggressively, and psychologically against anything anyone ever knew him by.
