Step-Daughter Visiting from UK;

My husband's daughter will be visiting us for the first time since her dad and brother moved here 1-1/2 years ago. She lives in the UK and therefore does not need a Visa to enter the US, but we know she needs proof that she will be returning to the UK and not intentionally staying here. She will have a return ticket, but WHAT other proof will she need so Customs will know she still has ties to the UK and will be returning? She is 17. She lives with her mother so has no rent/mortgage. She is not in school so cannot show she will return for classes. She does have a job and we told her to ask her boss for a letter stating when she would return to work from being on holiday in the US, but her boss doesn't want to write a letter. She says she used to be a travel agent and that a letter is not needed for a holiday trip. We told his daugther to tell her boss that immigration and foreign travel has changed since 9/11 and she does need this documentation to help Customs realize she will be returning to the UK. We don't know if her boss will write the letter or not so is there any other kind of paperwork or documents she can bring with her to prove she is going back to the UK? Obviously with her father and brother living here, it could look like she might stay, but she will be going back to the UK. Thanks for everyone's help!

Since she's 17, a letter from her mother stating her travel plans and when she's coming back would be helpful too.

I would agree that a letter from her mother stating the dates her daughter will be in the U.S. and the date she will return to the U.K. would be a good start.

She could also bring with her any documents showing that her mother has custody, etc.
