Good Morning everybody.

I am a U.S Citizen and i am applying for my parents and sister to visit me.

My only question is.

after they receive their visas. how many months they can stay home before they travel to the states?

i heard good for 6 months before expire is that true?

10/01/2010: Application was sent.

10/04/2010: Application was received.

10/06/2010: Email received "Application has been received" & Noticed Date.

10/07/2010: "Touch"

10/08/2010: "Touch" & Check was Cashed

10/22/2010: Status Changed Online "Request for evidence" It was for Biometrics.

10/25/2010: Request for evidence recieved "Biometrics Notice".

hey Darnell. i did not mean after entrance. i meant after getting their visas in hand. because they dont want to travel right away. they wanna wait a little bit. so i was wondering how long they can stay in home before travelling to the states.

it depends on what is printed on the visa.

the date ranges printed on a tourist visa govern the entrance date into the USA.

Once inside the USA, the duration of stay inside the USA is governed by the I-94, which is issued on the POE/transit date by a CBP goon.

So, technically, if there's a 1 year duration on a tourist visa, and the visa holder enters on day 364, a CBP goon gives 6 months on the I-94, and that's all cool per USCIS and the DoS.

Entrance Date - please study any tourist visa foil stamped into a passport, soon.

1. usually 2 days within expiration of visa. study visa foil. 2 days is adequate for travelling/timezone/routing/CBP.

2. no. tell me exactly where you 'heard' that from. might be a website, might be a human, might be a written secular tract dropped off at a mosque with a copyright notice. I wanna know where you 'heard' this from. Thanks in advance !

If its a tourist visa just to visit they gain this on their own merits when they decide

to visit you, they will be given the dates to stay here if approved, if they stay a day after 6 months

they'll be out of status.

They require strong ties to their community Jobs, home, bank accounts etc & convince the

CO they will visit then return home (YOU do not make this application they do)

IF you are petitioning them, your sisters will take yrs to be processed and that would

be an immigrant visa
