The police clearance must come from a country that she has lived in more than 6 months since turning 16. If she has not lived outside the Philippines then there is no need for a PC.

She will need a NBI clearance just the same for the interview. Get the Embassy Letter and use as a check list, it's everything that USEM will need to conduct your interview. Nothing more and nothing less.

We have not started the visa process yet. She will be going for her passport interview Friday, and she got barangay, police, and NBI clearances as supporting documents, because when she started the process of collecting requirements for the passport, she only had a Postal ID and former college ID and nothing else.

Since she has the 3 clearances already for her passport, would a copy of those clearances be satisfactory in the visa process?

barangay clearance is not accepted for passport anymore.. She needs one valid ID like school ID, SSS Umid ID, voter's ID, driver's license, professional ID. They have a new Postal ID which is already digital but it will take 3months to get it.

Driver's license is the quickest to get if she doesn't have any ID to use for passport.

and for the visa process, she only need to have the NBI clearance but it needs to be recent, 6months prior to usage for US visa process. She may need to get a new copy when the time comes for your visa processing.

Unless you have personal experience, the PhilPost website for PPid's states that the turnaround time is 10-15 days for far reaching delivery locations. For Manila it's 5 days.

What I was wanting to know is if a copy of the clearances is good for visa or if original is necessary. But if the NBI clearance has to be within the last 6 months, she'll need a new one of those by the time it comes up for the visa anyway. But, she keeps telling me that she can only get 1 NBI clearance per year. I don't know who told her that, but she doesn't have ready access to the internet.

You can get more than one per year. It does need to be with all AKA's ever used. So if she has a nickname that she uses, then that must be included in the NBI. Also, yes it can't be older then 6 months at the time of the interview. CENOMAR is the same; 6 months.

NO CRIMINAL RECORD and NO CASE PENDING means she is in the NBI's database for a possible past offense or for someone else who has a similar name.

If her NBI says either of those two phrases, she needs to return to the NBI and request a letter of explanation as to WHAT she is in the database for. If she can't get a letter then she needs an explanation (verbal will do) so she can make any corrective action prior to the interview. Sometimes some are in the database because someone has a similar name or has a name like hers and what they did, created the "hit" for her. Don't panic, but get to the bottom of the problem and resolve the issue(s) prior to the interview if possible. Be stern in your request as sometimes you will be sent away with nothing. No resolving the problem will create a delay for the visa issuance.

If her form says something like NO RECORD ON FILE or NO DEROGATORY RECORD then she has nothing to worry about.

NBI CLEARANCE (Green Form). Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance (for travel abroad purposes) from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name and any aliases or nicknames used, including different spellings you have used of those names. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of "No criminal record" or "No pending case". For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is valid for one (1) year from the date it was issued. The NBI website is http://www.nbi.gov.ph.

Ok, that's where she got the 1 year thing. It's valid for 1 year. So, to her, that meant she could only get one per year. An easy mistake to be made, especially when someone isn't accustomed to collecting documents for anything. Lots of good information.

It's so easy to get nbi clearance. She need to log in online, put all her data there, select the payment method she wants, they have alot of payment center, choose appointment for her personal appearance at any nbi office near her and show up bring the receipt and her online application.

My fiance wanted to get postal id last month. He inquired to the local philpost office, they told him the facility that prints the SSS Umid ID is the same that prints the postal id, he got his UMID id after 3 months.. Maybe in metro manila it is much quicker.. Or it might get better nowadays anywhere. Who knows.. Driver's license is quicker to obtain maybe days.. But i won't be surprise if any of those ID are delayed, as the same with philippine passport

Didn't expect a delay for the PPid. It makes sense if the passport is being printed by the same company as the PPid, then naturally they both may be held hostage. Thanks for the info.
