Hi Cristina,

My husband is not on petition, neither myself. Should I tell details like our properties, job and travel histories even if the CO wont ask about it? Or would it be a harm to tell details not being asked? Thanks.

That's good that you have no petitions filed.

You should not volunteer information unless it is to your advantage that added more ties and you have an original documentation proof with you.

In my case when i was asked:

1. what do you do? - "I answered - I am working as______ for ABC Inc., a German owned Company. We operate ____ business in the country".This proves that the Company I am working is Multi-national and shows I have a good job. I have my COE to prove this. You can include mentioning years employment if you wanted if it will be significant like more than 5 years.

2. How much is your salary monthly? - answer in Pesos. " I earn ______ monthly including salaries, allowance and benefits". By including allowance and other benefits your monthly pay (monetary and fringe benefits) will be much of greater value. Your answer should match your answer in your DS 160, if not you can justify that what you answered was salary only. My COE includes salary, allowances and my service agreements.

3. Have you traveled to other countries in the past 5 years?- "Yes, I have traveled to several Asian countries with my children". By saying this, it means I have the capacity to travel with my kids and have proven to come back. I have my kids passport with me to show immigration stamps if asked.

When they asked about my purpose of travel. I only answered to visit my parents and for tourism purposes. If the CO asked you "where else you intend to go?" It important to show that you will also be spending money and interested to learn and see more of the country.

It's all about how you answer the CO and how he access you as you answer his questions. Just relax, be confident and if you are telling them the truth there is nothing you should worry. Some CO are even making jokes as they talk to families. Everything is up to them so there is nothing really here that guarantees you can get the visa. Money in the bank is not a guarantee that you will get approved. The girl who was interviewed before me was asked how much she is willing to spend for the trip - she answered she estimated to spend P500K. After saying that she was denied.

Just to give you an over view of my case. I have a petition filed, declared it on my DS 160 and it was never asked from me. I am a single mom, both of my parents are in the US along with several extended family members. It was very challenging for me since I have a petition filed but I am over prepared and ready to justify my immigration intent. I walked out of that counter giggling when I got approved, no documents was asked from me, my interview was less than 2 mins.

By the way do you have other visas from previous travels? That is a good supporting document too.

Wow your case was really exciting Crisitina! Yes both of us have tourist visas to show (Dubai, Singapore, Korea n to name a few). For hubby, he has working visas in other countries because he was deployed there by his company here in the Philippines - is that also worth mentioning? But I have one visa for Bahrain but it's a working visa since I worked there for 4 years, is that something advantageous or a negative one for our application? Also, husband just transfered work last year (and still not regular) to an American Engineering firm here in the Ph (he worked in a Japanese company also in the Ph for 8 yrs before that), would that be a disadvantage?Thank you so much!?

As per profile: Why are your applying for: EB2 visas - advanced degrees??

There are three types of EB-2 Visas.

EB-2(A): This category is for foreign nationals professionals with an 'advanced degrees' (masters degree or higher) and with a job offer from a U.S. company

EB-2(B): This category is for foreign nationals with 'exceptional ability' in the sciences, business or arts and with a job offer from a U.S. company

EB-2©: This category is for foreign nationals with exceptional ability, or an advanced degree, who can show that their activities will substantially benefit the U.S. national interest
