So I filed my I-751 2 months ago and did my boimetircs 2 weeks ago. Anyway it has not been pleasant in our marriage over the past year, but we usually try to work out a solution. However last weekend we got into a huge argument. The worst that we have ever had, and we both said some very hurtful things. My wife packed her bag and took our son to her sisters to stay. She told me that she might be willing to go to counceling but if that doesnt work we need to get a divorce. I dont know what will happen. I want to try and make things work, but it looks like she wants out, Ive never seen her this mad before. This is a very stressfull situation as I dont want to move back to my home country because I will be apart from my son. I decided I would give her a few days to cool off and recollect, but I spoke to her today and she is still unwilling to listen to me. I begged her to come to councelling but she said shes not sure yet, she has to think about it. I am worried that she is going to slap me with the divorce papers and I wont have a choice. I am so upset that I cant even function at my job. What should I do about the I-751 application?

As long as you entered your marriage in good faith you can remove conditions on your own if you get divorced.

So sorry to hear this

Some states require you seek counseling before granting a divorce

and others such as New York you must be legally separated a year before they will grant divorce.

Find out about your state and any strange requirements they may require

if a long separation and counseling is what state requires, she may be forced into it

But don't you be the person who forces the issue

just be patient

and if there is any member of her family who would support your requests to counsel, get to them and ask for help

try to find support from people who can be honest with both of you and tell you face to face when either of you is a jerk
