There is nothing temporary about it. You are a US legal permanent resident with a conditional I-551 Green Card (GC). Take your GC and your valid foreign passport for travel to Canada.

Have a safe trip.

Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately I called the Canadian border and they told me that if you hold a Conditional green card your entrance is not garanted.......he told me it depends on the officer of the border.....weird.....and he hung up the phone......very rude and unprofessional. ....I wanted to ask if there were anything I might do in order to be eligible. ....but he just hung up. .... any suggestions. ....thank you

As others have said, bring your Green card. I don't think you'll have any problems whatsoever.

Suggestion: Call CBSA at the border again. Politely and professionally identify yourself by name and request the same of them, including their employee number, ID, or badge number. Restate your inquiry again and request clarification until you're satisfied and understand. In the absence of being successful, ask to speak with a supervisor and get their name as well and attempt to address the situation again.

Not to be flippant, but their country, their rules.

Entry into any country is subject to the discretion of the officer unless you're a citizen

It's not weird. It's not his job to advise you how to overcome any deficiency. It's his job to spot them and prevent people from entering. If you want advice, the immigration folks are not the ones to ask. You want advice, then hire a lawyer.

I want to sincerely thank you for giving your comments and suggestions. I just want to join my kids in this travel. Everyone in my family is an American citizen and they do have passport. I called USCIS and they told me that conditional green card is equivalent to green card for one year. It's common to take a while for the new residents to be provided with green card.

I nicely and professionally called the border again. A nice lady told me that I will be fine. Hope so ..... I totally understand that it's there country that's why I asked for ur opinions and suggestions. I just wanna have fun with my family.....I will let you know what gonna happen. ....once again thank you

If this should make you feel even better I'm currently a conditional permanent resident and visited Vancouver, Canada driving through the U.S./Canadian port of entry in Blaine, Washington to watch the Fifa Women's World Cup finals this summer and I was admitted. You should be fine. The only thing that happened was I had to have my car inspected and questioned on the purpose of my visit.

Hi guys.

I just wanna let you know that I had a great time in Canada. My current status was not a problem to cross the border . I was treated exactly the same way as the other family members that already have American citizenship.

Thank you for your comments.

Hope this may be helpful for other people in the same status.
