Hmmm, I don't think she mentioned anything about water issues, but she has said that she is very glad she is up pretty high on Blush Hill so her house won't flood the way houses in town probably will. I can only imagine the mess that's going to occur when it all melts. Yikes! Stay dry. And warm!

Call your Mom 'cos she's gonna be snowed in again this weekend! We're expecting a nor'easter to come in tonight. My town is getting 10-15 overnight with another 2-4 tomorrow, and your Mom's town is going to get 10-15 overnight with 4-6 tomorrow! They gave these predictions when we ended up with 30" so pray it doesn't happen again -- I want spring! :help:

Lord, I heard about that coming your way and couldn't believe it! Last I talked to my Mom, she said it was actually warming up a bit and the snow was beginning to melt a little. Guess she spoke to soon!

We got some of the storm here in DC, but fortunately it's warm enough that it's just rain. That being said, it was over 80 degrees here on Wednesday and now it's about 35. What the @#$% is up with *that*!

Tell me about it!

I'm about 60 miles or so from you KJ, and we have an inch of snow here so far in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It was raining all day but turned to sleet about 1 p.m. and then snow at about 2:30.

Like you said, it was 80 freakin degrees here on Wednesday and here I thought all this ####### was overrrrrrrrrrr.

Yeah, I spoke too soon myself! As soon as I left the office, the rain turned to sleet and ice. It made for a lovely commute home and we ended up with a nice covering of ice on everything. Not quite an inch but still a mess, sigh. It's a bright sunny day here but still cold so nothing is melting. I love winter, but I am done with this one - bring me spring, dammit!

Coming home from officiating hockey at Reston VA it was sleet!!! Normally a 15 min drive, took me just over an hour to get home!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

How did your Mom fare? We got a total of a foot - the most of it on Friday night. Yesterday was horrible though. REALLY windy and some serious white out situation at some points. Luckily we were not driving but it was grim! Crazy weather. Spring in a few days and we're expecting a low of -18c tomorrow night. Oh joy. Bring on the mud season! Still, it is heartening to think in a few months my veg garden will be blooming....I hope.

It's 80 degrees in the Tampa Bay of Florida :)

Snow...one thing I do not miss about New York. Okay, yes I do. Only a little though, and only as long as I don't have to drive in it or clean it up.

When I spoke to her on Saturday she said that they had already gotten 14 inches and it was still coming down! :help: Fortunately she has some really great neighbors who always help her get dug out. And only in Vermont would one of your neighbors be known as "Mountain Man Steve".

I think she is looking forward to mud season as well. And with the snow that you guys have gotten, mud season should be a doozy this year!

Mmmmm, vegetables! I am a bit jealous. We have an apartment with a small balcony that's not very conducive to "crop" growing. I can do herbs and one of my neighbors seems to do well tomatoes, so I may try that this year.

Florida is definitately not for me. Too hot. Too humid. Too many gated subdivisions with cutesy Spanish tile roofs and palm trees. But it's nice to visit, especially when the weather here sucks. Derek and I are looking forward to our trip in just a few weeks!

In places like West Palm Beach and Miami, it's like that ... but I live in the Tampa Bay and a lot of the houses look pretty similar to the houses back in NY. And not too many subdivisions, saw way more back in NY.

A lot of the condos are gated, but it's more of a hassle than anything. I'm moving to Clearwater in a few months and I can't wait to live in an apt without a gate.

The heat doesn't bother me too much...I wore jeans all summer :) (that's all I had, shorts I had were too big for me b/c I'd lost a lot of weight...now they're too small, heh). I miss the change of the seasons and don't like being so far from my mom.
