Can you seriously sit here and not understand why so many people are cautious and outspoken against Islamic followers?

Consider this. I have a number of middle eastern friends, you and I both know that a lot of people there absolutely can not stand America because they feel America is evil and only looks after their own interests. The same reasoning you are giving about not all Muslims being terrorists applies with this situation. 99.9% of Americans are not out there to punish or steal from the Middle East. Yet most people in the region still hate Americans because of the 0.1%. The same goes with Islam.

If Islam has this sophisticated, elaborate multi-pronged plan to take over the world, how can it be at the same time backward and primitive?

There is a difference between ideologies and implementation methods.

May sound tangential to you (but isn't): the Burmese military, for example, has very sophisticated (maybe not in comparison to US?) mil hardware, mostly from its northern neighbour China--but Burma's infrastructure is quite backward.

Ok, then, please explain which part of Islam is sophisticated and which part isn't. Is it the ideology? The implementation (hardly), or the infrastructure (how can a religion have infrastructure?)
