Did you read the OP? In that article cited it is suggested for muslims to tear up half of the Quran. How is that not attacking it?

My point is that had someone attacked the bible for its content, I as a Christian would not have made comparisons with the Quran or the muslim faith, but simply defended my Christian beliefs.

And you probably would win the argument since the majority of the population doesn't consistently associate Christianity with violence. It's not so easy for a muslim. I think if most people would actually educate themselves on the fact that a lot of other religions out there had violent moments perhaps Islam wouldn't get pounded everyday in the press.

All you have to do is look at that debacle with the cartoon & the voilence which ensued afterwards. Christians usually don't kill and threaten people who blaspheme the religion (aside from the occassional nut job) ....which is why I would guess modern Christianity is not associated with violence

Yes, and I think everytime they talk about Catholic Priests molesting boys on the news, they should stop for a moment and remind us that afterall, 2400 years ago Socrates and other prominant greeks were doing the same thing. That would put it all in perspective for us living in the 21st century.

Yes, and I think everytime they talk about Catholic Priests molesting boys on the news, they should stop for a moment and remind us that afterall, 2400 years ago Socrates and other prominant greeks were doing the same thing. That would put it all in perspective for us living in the 21st century.

I'm not understanding you. I'm not saying that because other religions had violence in their books that the current violence is justified. I totally denounce all acts of violence. I'm saying that I'm sick and tired of people pointing to the Quran and saying that it is such a violent book, where right under their noses is the bible which is just as violent.

But people of the 21st century do not act out on those verses in the name of Christianity the way people in the 21st century act out on the verses of the Quran in the name of Islam. People today are searching for answers to why extremist groups would claim that their violence is justified by the Quran, and when they read wh (and please let's not hear about the 17 abortion doctors killed in the last 50 years) at the extremist groups are pointing at- it gives them answers. Of course you're sick of it, but that's the hand that is dealt today. You have to believe that there were also true Christians who saw the crusades as a perversion of their religion too, and certainly the groups that were affected by the Crusades would have saw the Bible as the cause of their problems citing that the Crusaders were doing things it seemed the Bible was telling them to do. It's all about the day you happen to live in.

Today they don't but lest we forget the Spanish Inquisition or the Crusades or even the Holocaust. Those were not started by muslims.

It has everything to do with it. The basis of the argument is that the Quran is violent and someone here suggested that Muhammed was not a prophet because he killed people. I"m merely pointing out that there is just as much if not more violence in the bible as well and that other prophets were equally if not more murderous.

What's funny is that we can have an open discussion here in the US. How many years in jail would you get if you were in Egypt for doing the same thing?
