The good side of slavery? Please, go on!

I thought someone would throw that out. Not everyone who was a slave was treated poorly by their owner. Was it wrong to have slaves yes. Did people know any better back then, of course not...

Yet much like working in any business, there are great bosses and their are extremely bad bosses..

Comparing the atrocity of slavery to having a job? Comparing slave owners to your boss at work? Your head is somewhere, but it's not on your shoulders. Jobs & bosses= paycheck without beating, raping, or selling you off away from your family.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.

How is that even relevant? Explain the logical connection

The relevance of that was based on a response to 'mybackpages' accusing the founding fathers of basically being fully aware of how shameful slavery was. Therefore I pointed out, "does the same apply to Morocco where human trafficking still exists??" Are they aware of how shameful it is for this practice to continue? Have they apologized for the trafficking of people.

Who knows what they've done? If you're interested in Moroccan current events, find out. And of course the inherent wrongness of slavery in Morocco is widely known. Are you suggesting Moroccans are in some way less informed about this than Americans about right and wrong?

I also mentioned the sultans who had more than there fair share of slaves. Has the Moroccan government apologized for the actions of the Sultans?. Then I had jenn3539 point out that Morocco was not in the discussion. No ######!! Earlier on we discussed aborigines in Australia. Heck they where not even slaves.. I brought it up as example of a another country which had slavery and was basically asking whether that country apologized to their slaves..

Who knows? Find out. We don't live in Morocco, we live here. The stain of slavery on the US is something most of us feel palpably.

Nevermind, it's not even worth it. You're just backpedalling at this point.

Face it, you were trying to get her good by making her out to be a hypocrite. Sorry it backfired for you.

Well it is a logical question. Should other countries apologize for slavery but your answer is quite clear, obviously not. Which yes is hypocritical..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Who said they shouldn't? The US likes to call itself the first and the innovator for lots of things, why not set an example?

On the topic of slavery in the US, how do you feel about all of the Muslim tribes which profiteered from selling non-Muslim Africans to the dutch?? Should they apologize..

Do you offer lessons so I can learn to think on your level?

You're obviously upset because you got PWNED by everyone in here. Give it up already.

I can't believe you really think that marrying a person of a certain country means that you automatically agree with that country's policies. You've still never responded to that.

By who, you and your buddies... The following was my initial response. I do not see any section indicating that marrying a person of a certain country means that you automatically agree with that country's policies. Do you...

They must have know as well as the Sultans in Morocco did in the past.

Then again lets compare it to moder-day human trafficking.. aka slavery

Morocco is a source, transit, and destination country for girls, women, and men trafficked from sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Internal trafficking involves young girls from rural areas recruited to work as child maids in major cities. Morocco is also a source country for men, women, and children trafficked to Italy, Spain, and other parts of Europe for forced labor and sexual exploitation. Moroccan women are similarly trafficked to Saudi Arabia, Syria, and the UAE for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Men and women from Nigeria, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan are increasingly trafficked through Morocco to Europe or Middle Eastern countries for forced labor. In 2005, the Government of Morocco, international organizations, and numerous NGOs claimed that the number of Moroccans trafficked into Spain, Italy, and elsewhere in Europe has increased significantly. - U.S. State Dept Trafficking in Persons Report, June, 2006

Of course they knew better. The founders of this country (many of them slave owners themselves) knew slavery was wrong, knew it was hypocritical to the values this nation was founded upon. Many debates at the Second Continental Cognress and the Constitutional conventions show this. The thing is they knew it was wrong but did not want to risk their own interests to do what they all knew was right.

The example of Morocco was related to the above response where 'mybackpages' basically indicated the founders knew very well what they where doing. Therefore I replied by saying they must have known as well as the officials in Morocco do, considering human trafficking still occurs there..

Human trafficking happens here in the US as well. The next logical step is not to say that the US accepts it. Even the link you provided included a quote from the Moroccan government saying it is a problem.

Yeah, thanks I read it the first time.

Maybe you should explain your intention then in using this to rebut mybackpages' claim that our founding fathers knew that slavery was wrong. It seems pretty clear to me what your intention was. Why not talk about human trafficking in any other country, or in general?

Not to the degree as it does there..

I was not attacking anyone personally I was just making a point that stuff like this has happened in most countries out there..

and that proves what? Your circular logic makes me dizzy.

I refuted our statement that the founders didn't know better. They did. Maybe you accept that argument and you just want to discuss something else? If you are trying to prove your original statement was correct, you still haven't done it.

Sometimes seemingly circular logic isn't even smart enough to be called circular....

Another great contribution from you. Keep up the great work..
