It is over one year since got the green card. I like to go to India for two months for personal reason. Do I have to inform USCIS or anybody. Will I face any legal trouble while coming back to USA?

Pleas let me know if some one faced any issue or heard anything like that.

Thank you everyone.

2 months is no problem. However, sometimes plans change, so I will say this: If you stay outside of the US for longer than 6 months, it can "reset" your eligibility for becoming a citizen. And if you stay outside of the US for longer than 1 year, you can risk losing your permanent resident status.

As long as you keep the trip to less than 6 months, it won't hurt you at all.

(Also, I should mention that if you want to become a citizen, limit your TOTAL of all your trips outside the U.S. to less than half of your eligibility period, which is 5 years - or 3 years if you got your green card through marriage to a US citizen)

You shouldn't face any issues with traveling to India and coming back to the USA with a valid green card. Just make sure to save the dates of your travel, should you choose to naturalize in the future. Happy travels!

Thank you very much for your reply and the wishes.
