I'm so happy to join you guys in this thread! :D

We got our NOA2 yesterday. I need to go over the VJ guides for what comes next, it's been so long that I'm not sure I remember all the steps from now until the interview!

Congrats!

We got our NOA2 hard copy yesterday. Since we never received the hard copy of the NOA1 I was worried but thank god, we got this one.

We're going to wait another week then start calling NVC and try to get a case number.

APPROVED!!!! I checked my USCIS app this morning and it said we had been approved on Aug. 28. So happy right now! :joy:

I don't think they ever updated the system on Friday...we had no text, no email, Immifairy tracked no approvals, and my case status still said 'received' until this morning...so it must have just been updated...

APPROVED!!!! I checked my USCIS app this morning and it said we had been approved on Aug. 28. So happy right now! :joy:

I don't think they ever updated the system on Friday...we had no text, no email, Immifairy tracked no approvals, and my case status still said 'received' until this morning...so it must have just been updated...

And yes, I just received an email saying they sent our petition to NVC on aug 28, I guess they forgot to update on friday lol

I'm hoping our file will be sent to NVC sometime this week. I can't wait to be able to schedule my interview, I feel like everything will be easier once I have a better handle on the timeline of events. I also have to travel quite far for my interview (nearest consulate is a 12 hour drive away), so the sooner I can make travel plans the better!

07/21/2016: AOS interview. Approved, but file was missing medical. Local office can't issue GC until they receive medical from DOS.

Our K-1 journey:

3/2/2015- Petition sent Fedex overnight

3/3/2015- Petition received (NOA1 according to USCIS website)

3/5/2015- Paper NOA1 notice date

9/1/2015- NOA2!! (182 days)

9/4/2015- sent to NVC

9/17/2015- finally got through to NVC and case number assigned

9/24/2015-Status changed to "in transit"

9/29/2015-Dublin Embassy Received

9/29/2015-Packet 3 Received

10/7/2015- Medical scheduled

10/7/2015- Packet 3/readiness sent (Dublin Embassy needs medical complete before readiness is sent)

10/8/2015- Interview scheduled for Oct 29

10/29/2015- Interview, approved! (241 days)

11/9/2015- Visa in hand

12/30/2015- Planned US entry

WE GOT A CASE NUMBER!!!

Called tonight from Shanghai and waited for 45 minutes but I got a case number. Surprised that my VOIP link stayed up that long. Internet here is bad going to the US through all the Government firewalls.

It took 13 days to arrive at NVC so be patient

9/1/2015: NVC Received NOA2 Package and have assigned a Case Number!
9/22/2015: Received PKT3... Finally..... Can now make appointment for Medical Examination
9/28/2015: Medical Exam - Took 3 days... Cho Ray is a mess. Vaccinations delayed until passing Interview because of shortage of vaccinations in Vietnam
10/7/2015: Interview at Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City and APPROVED!!!!

3/16/2016 All arrive in Chicago from Vietnam. Son passes customs with flying colors. Wife is delayed for 3.5 hours. Homeland Security lets us go with no questions... amazing. We miss our connections and get home thankfully at 1AM

4/11/2016 Package with Applications Send Fed Ex Overnight to Chicago and FedEx confirms delivery on 4/12/2016

4/26/2016 Received 3 emails and 3 text with Acceptance of confirmation of 3 applications. NOA1 Date 4/25/2016 WHAT IS GOING ON CHICAGO? Took 10 days longer than last time to just receive mail

4/27/2016 Check is cashed. Still can't look up Receipt Numbers on Case Status online at USCIS.GOV WHAT IS GOING ON?????

5/25/2016 Walk in for a "junior" Biometrics for an 11 year old (supposedly not required). Oops wrote down the wrong day, appointment was for 5/23/2016. USCIS office was nice and accepted us 2 days late.

7/13/2016 Finally the Check Status Website worked. Approved EAD and AP. Website still not working on AOS Green Card Application. No email notification at all....

7/15/2016 Card for EAD mailed. Card is for both EAD and AP. Received 7/19/2016. Waiting now for AOS Interview or Green Card Approval

7/19/2016 The USCIS.GOV is now working for our AOS application. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? Seems others have access to USCIS.GOV Check Case now. Glitch fixed?

8/15/2016 I-485 Approved. Status now Card/Document Production

8/20/2016 GREEN CARD DELIVERED -118 Days K-2 Process complete, see y'all on Lifting Conditions board in a year or so

Now that I have a decent internet, here are some tips on calling NVC that I have learned

1) There is no harm in calling. But your call ties up others. Best to try about 10-14 days after your NOA1 They will tell you to wait for 35 days. That is Government speak for 2 weeks.

2) Keep calling. Other links have the best times for them. For me its late in the day since I am not a morning person

3) Select #1 on the options

4) Expect to be on hold when you call. The canned voice says 20 minute time....HA HA that's Government time. My holds are all more than that more like 30 - 45

5) Be prepared with your SRC number, your name, your birthday, your fiancée name and birthday

6) When on hold you will hear music for exactly one minute followed by 8 seconds of voice on how they are serving other customers. If you count the cycles you can know how long you are on hold (Was I bored??? I timed it out)

7) The NVC people are very nice. The lady was so excited that she gave me part of my Case Number before asking my name. Nice human touch

8) Ask for your receipt number, when they got the case and when (date) they assigned your a case number

9) Log into your VJ Timeline and let all of us know

10 Celebrate

Now I am trying to figure out the DHL tracking thing. This is looking into the DHL system using NVC tracking codes. Working on it and I will let you know my experience

Woot, some movement! I'm hoping our case will get sent to NVC this week...

Meanwhile I've been checking out form DS-160 and collecting all the info I will need to complete it. It seems I need to list all of my past visits to the US! There have been something like 30 border crossings, some dating back to the early 1990s when I went on holiday with my family as a child. I hope I don't forget any! Many of those were crossing by land so I don't always have record of the dates in my old passports. I'll need to ask my mom and hope she has the dates in her records somewhere...
