filling ds-160 for tourist visa but i dont know the address ill be staying in yet and it wont let me skip this question, what do i do?

The general rule is not to make plans before having a visa in hand.

I have traveled to many places in the world on vacation. While I have a general idea of where I am going to stay on the first night, I will not book a hotel until my visa is in hand. Then, I look at the current prices online before picking and booking a hotel.

This is why many people applying for tourist visas will not know where they will be staying.

In that case, when the application requires an address, why not list the address of a hotel in the area you'll be visiting? A general idea is better that the OP's comment of having no plans

I have never listed a hotel on a visa application. On the plane, the crew will pass out customs forms which requires me to declare where I will be staying.

I see! When I've applied for visas I've always known where I'll be staying. I guess that is the over planner in me.

Before folks consider applying for a tourist visa, they have some vague idea where they want to go or visit first. You must have given some thought to that. A visa officer will ask of a friend or relative in the US to stay with, or a hotel near where you will begin your tourist stuff. Use one of those addresses.
