I left Manila about two weeks ago and no more paying the terminal fee on the way out - it was included in your ticket already

Doesn't it depend on the airline and how you bought your ticket? I thought if bought in the PI either directly from the airlines or through a travel agency it was included, but third party online through like orbitz, priceline, or whatever you had to pay at the counter.

Where and how did you buy your ticket?

If purchased in the Philippines more than likely the P1620 is there, you will have to look through your list of fees/taxes. Purchased outside the Philippines or online no guarantee the Travel Tax is included.

P1620 = $35.xx (roughly)

It pays to ask the issuing entity what is included in your ticket price. Relying on "All government taxes and CheapOair service fees are included in the total amount charged" doesn't give me a lot of assurance that travel tax was included, especially since it is a Philippine's country exclusive tax requirement. You did the right thing by calling CheapOair directly for your answer. Good luck and safe travels.

You got 2 separate fees / taxes to be concerned with and I doubt you got the correct the correct answer from cheaptickets unless you were really specific in asking your question. I could be wrong though, it has happened in the past, haha.

First is the TERMINAL FEE. Used to be P550 for many years then after NAIA and IATA were able to hash things out they raised it to P750 - maybe around June or so. This cost is PROBABLY included in the final price of your ticket.

Second is the TRAVEL TAX which USUALLY applies to ONLY MOST PHILIPPINE CITIZENS departing the country. Like everything else in the PI there are many exceptions on who needs to pay this amount. When you book a ticket there is NO WAY that the agency would know if the ticket holder / traveler is liable for this cost (P1620 for adult, P810 for child [maybe under 18?]). But for all I know part of the deal is that every ticket is also assessed this amount then it is up to the traveler to request a refund at the same kiosk that you used to pay the tax at inside the doors of the terminal. I wouldn't put it past them to exercise this logic as an increased revenue stream.

I'll let you know for sure how this works after my return with spouse and daughter on Sep 14.

Notice all the capitalized caveats above.
