Hi All, I am a Canadian and my husband is from the US. We got married in the US and then I returned to Canada and started filing for the K3 visa. I am at the stage where a medical is required but the letter they sent me listed all Canadian MD. I am currently in the US visiting my husband and did not plan to return to Canada for another 3 weeks. Do you think that I could complete my medical here in the US with one of their embassy panel MD? Do you think that would count against me? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you can or not...

A few questions though:

- did you return your checklist and DS-230 to Montreal?

- did you receive an interview date?

- are your vaccinations up to date?

The reason I'm asking is because if your vaccinations aren't up to date, you'll have to pay to have them done in the U.S. whereas if you get them done in Canada, it's covered under our basic healthcare. Most people on VJ from Canada (myself included) made sure my vaccinations were up to date before going to the medical.

Also if you haven't returned your checklist and DS-230, do it now even if you don't have all the documents required yet. Montreal is notoriously slow with issuing interview dates. (See the Canada subforum for the "montreal waiting room" thread).

If you have received your interview date, most panel physicians in Canada offer same day or 2 day service depending on which one you go to (which province are you in?).

Lastly, can you fill out your timeline so we can understand exactly where you're at in the process? Thanks! :)

It's highly unlikely you could do your medical in the US since each consulate normally has a listed of approved clinics in their country. You need to find out from your consulate directly.

AFAIK, you have to have the medical done in Canada, because technically, you're not supposed to be in the US waiting for a K3.

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

The medical must be in the country where the interview would take place from a panel physicial approved by the Department of State. Since there are no doctors approved by the state dept in the US, this would not apply..
