Leaving this coming wednesday to visit my babe for about 5 weeks and I figure I should really look into some traveler's insurance. I've never purchased it before and I was lucky that the only things that happened to me while abroad were a bad cold in Romania and motion sickness in England  lol.

I've also heard having traveler's insurance sometimes helps to show ties back to the United States. I don't know if this is true but I am kinda accident prone sometimes

Anyone know where I can find a good deal on traveler's insurance?

Hello,

Specifically where to get it I don't have the links any more..but if you google Travelers Insurance you'll find tons of links.

It's not as cheap as I would have thought for a USC though - depends on where you're going, for how long and if you want your trip covered (expense of the flight etc).

Example:

I was in Germany Dec 01 though Jan 06 - low end was $80 to a high of $140 (or so) for just medical/emergency (no trip coverage). Where as my fiance (German National) only paid like $20 (euro converted) for a 3 week stay here in the states - I believe mainly because it's kind of covered partially by their national coverage.

But it's worth happening because your medical (if any) won't help there - in most cases I think. So if you get sick, or have a toothache etc, can pay for all/most of it that would have to otherwise be out of pocket which is never good.

Hope it helps..

note to self: Vikki, get a credit card. ;)

Just an FYI - a Credit Card (in almost all cases) will not cover medical/emergency etc at all. It's a common 'myth' that they will - even for a rental car - many cases not covered, and certainly not always in a foreign country. Don't be fooled.

If there is ANY coverage that can be covered by a CC company, it would be limited to your trip that you paid for with it..but even then not what you're probably looking for. Read the mouse-print of just call.

I looked and looked, got tired, then looked some more and the rates are all about the same as you found. I just finally decided to divide the cost by number of days and tell myself it was just $xx.xx per day. Only alternative is to go without and hope for the best. Have done that before too (love to 'live on the edge' sometimes).

Good Luck - :star:

well if it will help anyone else, Jonny had found this the other day. I was just hopeing I could find it a bit cheaper

http://www.squaremouth.com/travel-insuranc...dex.php?pid=550

Best price so far, $44.00. Includes: travel delay/missed connection, baggage and personal effects loss, baggage delay, emergency medical/dental. medical evacuation and repartiation, air flight accident, hurricane/weather, and terrorisim (foreign and domestic). To add trip interruption, trip cancelation etc it bumps the price up to about 75.00. not bad really.

My babe's google-fu is mighty :luv:
