We mailed middle July last year, interview is march 23 in Garden City. So it takes 8 months.

Just waiting for fingerprints is 2 months, but that was during the summer, now could be faster, although that is more important when waiting for EAD.

Please view my timeline. Submitted Oct '05, June '06 interview (Garden City).

Moving is never a clear cut procedure with USCIS and is not recommended (by VJers) at all during AOS process. Check out threads on moving and changing address with USCIS.

If you move during the process then you would need to file the AR-11 and the I-865. You would also be highly advised to check up on USCIS as well, calling 2 weeks after the forms are sent to ensure the address update is made.

wow, are they really that behind?

where can I find more information on their processing times?

BEHIND! Be grateful. NYC has the reputation of being one of the slowest offices in the whole country! Some people have reported waiting 2-3 YEARS.

Check the timelines here on VJ. See my signature.

Oh yeah, don't move between filing the AOS petition and your GC interview letter  it confuses the USCIS.

Heading Home!

I think I want to cry :crying:

Although I know it's not highly recommended to move during this process, I'm having major issues with my landlord and I honestly don't see myself staying in this apartment for 3 months much less 3 years. In the event that we do have to move (we're considering leaving NY State altogether) will they reassign us to a service center closer to where we live or will we still have to interview in NYC? Also, if we were to move to an area that has quicker processing times, wouldn't that help speed up our case?
