Everytime I call the NVC they tell me they are waiting for the Embassy in Algeria to say schedule him an appointment. Its been 6 mons does it really take that long people?? Its so sad how there are so many Yemenis struggling. Good Luck to all.

Transferring a case can take 6-8weeks. I would but thats too long to wait another two months until they recieve the case. I am hoping we get a interview scheduled by then. InshAllah we will have our husbands here with us soon.

No I am from Cali. Both me and my husband are originally from Yemen. We just transferred the case to Algeria because of the war. But yeah I really dont know anything but that the hotels are affordable, kinda cheap. My husband is staying with about 20 other people. I think its like a studio but with 7 rooms.

Oh ok. sorry for the mistake. nice to meet u. same here about case transfer. Trying to get visa to algeria but they want hotel reservations and flight bookings, etc. such a headache. i wish i chose malaysia instead. but all yemeni people were saying algeria is the fastest so hubby wanted me to request algeria.

by the way, hotels online are showing $150 a night. thats crazy!

Hi, thanks for the reply :)

My husband has a Yemeni passport; so he should be set. Is it weird or is it just me that they dont give visa upon arrival for US citizens? I wouldnt even know when to book a round trip for.....seeing as no one knows how long processing can take at US Embassy. As far as hotels, I looked online ...so expensive near the Embassy. Would one need to reserve hotel for full stay in algeria (to get entry visa ) or just a couple of nights and then we can maybe find a cheaper alternative....maybe an apartment outside the main city further in distance from embassy?

Any experiences guys with getting entry visa from the states? Or would one be able to get it from for example....Jordan since my husband is there as a refugee? Or would they deny me entry visa service since I am a US citizen and would have to get visa from states?

Thanks in advance for anyone who comments! :)

wheres your husband at right now? if he's in algeria just have him book a place for you and you should be fine

Do you have to travel with him? Can he go on his own?

And once he gets there he probably can book a place for you. I had my husband travel first and I was going travel, but alhamduillah they gave him an interview

Oh okay, good luck to both of you. I think from what I understood when I was planning on traveling was that it doesn't have to be a confirmed reservation, but itinerary. Where do you live in u.s.? If you're in New York go directly to the embassy of Algeria because I heard they process it quicker.

It took us two months from the time he arrived to the Algeria until he got his visa. Alhamduillah it was a very painful and long process, but alhamduillah it's done.

Advice for everyone here, don't give up. Continue calling emailing contacting congressmen and even send a letter to the consular in Algeria. Look up the address for the embassy write a letter explaining your situation and make sure to include case information and mail it out. It might cause you money, but it's worth it.

in my case, contacting my senator did help. My case was stuck in Egypt for 4 months after requesting it to transfer to Algeria. Each time I email the US embassy in Egypt they say case transfers take weeks to transfer and got the same response from the US embassy in Algeria. they simply send default answers considering my transfer request requested 4 months before and they keep saying few weeks. when I contacted my senator, it took a week for the whole process. they emailed the US embassy in Egypt. Believe it or not, the embassy responded to her and said that they will send it by week end. few days later I saw my case updates and showing transfer in progress.

What state are you in? My US senator for my state has a website. Basically they asked me to fill in the form online and mail them another form with my signature on it regarding privacy stuff. The immigration specials from the

senator office contacted me. I explained to her my station. she then emailed the embassy the same day. [/quote

Alsalam alaikum!

Have you guys heard anything about having to show proof that you are residing in the US? Ppl r saying that they are now requesting that the spouse that's n the US has to rent out an apartment or house or whatever, have a contract, get it notarized, and the applicant/beneficiary will have to present that at the interview. Have any of u heard of this and if so what are we supposed to do?

We requested that our case be expediated and it was granted by the Djibouti Embassy, however our case status has said "ready" for the past 7 days. My question is how long after case ready does it take to receive an interview appointment? Thank you for any help you can give us. We have been waiting in Djibouti for almost 7 months and my son was born there.

If the U.S. citizen has been out of the country for more than a year, they will ask for something proving domicile in the U.S. They want proof that you plan on coming back. I had electricty bills being paid in my name so I showed them that. You can show them bills in your name, rental agreement or anything tying you back.
