Congrats on your husband getting his visa:)

the question is how was he able to get a medical test? I also heard that it takes a long time to get an medical exam appointment since there is only one location that does it.

He had to do it after the interview so they put us on Administrative processing after his interview and they gave him a paper and he was able to do his medical. And no he did his medical exam on Monday and his interview was on Wednesday so a less than a week but in Algeria it does take a week to three weeks to get the visa after the interview whereas I think for Djibouti it is a couple of days.

Salam everyone, AllahmedAllah we got the interview date today after long wait. my interview date is on February 16th at 10am. The only problem is that they didn't send me the interview latter that was suppose to be attached to the email. From my understanding that I will need it to schedule a medical test and the way to enter the embassy. Any one had this problem before?

Did they email you saying that you have an interview on the 16th? Because when they sent me the email for my husband interview. it just stated that he had an interview on november 29th at 10 am and below it was his name and case number. he printed that email and showed it when he went to get his medical done. he didn't have any problem and we never got an actual attachment with anything about his interview beside the email.

They only showed the case number on the subject line and the interview date. I emailed them today and got back to me and said that this email below is sufficient for getting the medical done. it would have been nice if they at least wrote the name of the applicant.

this is what they sent me:

After interview they will put her on AP until they get her medical. It will probably take 1-2 weeks after. From the time they issues my husband visa until he got it was exactly one week.

السلام عليكم

Does anyone know how long it takes for Malaysia to receive electronic file or give an appointment? I requested a transfer for my husbands case 2 months ago to Malaysia and got a new case number but it still says at NVC and my case has been complete since July.

And also I've been hearing a lot of people talking about contacting their Congressman. How does that work? Would they be able to help me? Or is it only for specific cases or if you're running into a problem with your case?

And congratulations to everyone whose spouse has came in or gotten an appointment.. :D now just waiting on my turn and everyone else's In Sha Allah

Hi ,

I contacted my congressman but to be honest they didn't do anything for me to this point. I can't even get them to reply to my emails. However, I have also contacted them regarding my friend's case and they have been helpful and have at least been caring and understanding. I think it really is up to whoever ends up helping you. I have a different representative from the one my friend has and I think that makes a difference. Also it doesn't hurt to give it a try, you have nothing to lose.

in my case, contacting my senator did help. My case was stuck in Egypt for 4 months after requesting it to transfer to Algeria. Each time I email the US embassy in Egypt they say case transfers take weeks to transfer and got the same response from the US embassy in Algeria. they simply send default answers considering my transfer request requested 4 months before and they keep saying few weeks. when I contacted my senator, it took a week for the whole process. they emailed the US embassy in Egypt. Believe it or not, the embassy responded to her and said that they will send it by week end. few days later I saw my case updates and showing transfer in progress.

What state are you in? My US senator for my state has a website. Basically they asked me to fill in the form online and mail them another form with my signature on it regarding privacy stuff. The immigration specials from the senator office contacted me. I explained to her my station. she then emailed the embassy the same day.

Hi, you are in the right place:)

If you are traveling to Algeria with a US passport, then you will need a visa. When you apply for a visa for Algeria, you will need to provide a round trip ticket and Hotel reservation with the application. However, if you have a yemeni passport, you will not need a visa.

Hi, thanks for the reply :)

My husband has a Yemeni passport; so he should be set. Is it weird or is it just me that they dont give visa upon arrival for US citizens? I wouldnt even know when to book a round trip for.....seeing as no one knows how long processing can take at US Embassy. As far as hotels, I looked online ...so expensive near the Embassy. Would one need to reserve hotel for full stay in algeria (to get entry visa ) or just a couple of nights and then we can maybe find a cheaper alternative....maybe an apartment outside the main city further in distance from embassy?

Any experiences guys with getting entry visa from the states? Or would one be able to get it from for example....Jordan since my husband is there as a refugee? Or would they deny me entry visa service since I am a US citizen and would have to get visa from states?

Thanks in advance for anyone who comments! :)
