DEMANDS for a ban on “un-Islamic” activities in schools will be set out by the Muslim Council of Britain today.

I hope this sort of stupidity does not makes it's way to America.

Targets include playground games, swimming lessons, school plays, parents’ evenings and even vaccinations.

And the calls for all children to be taught in Taliban-style conditions will be launched with the help of a senior Government education adviser.

I have no problem with their beliefs but it is quite ridiculous to migrate to a non-muslim country, then demand changes like that

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Imperialism through immigration.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Its the flip side of living in a "free society". The US has some pretty bizarre extremist groups who put these people to shame. Not just the KKK but weird cults. Even certain branches of "christianity" are a weird caricature of what I normally associate with "church-going" types. Televangelism is just plain weird IMO.

Still, what this illustrates is (any) organised religion = politics

The MCB claims to be the voice of Britain’s 1.5million Muslims and was heavily courted by politicians including Tony Blair following the September 11 attacks. Its former secretary-general Iqbal Sacranie was awarded a knighthood in 2005.

But other Muslim groups criticised the report. Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui of the Muslim Parliament of Great Britain said: “There has been no discussion on these issues in the Muslim community.”

And the Sufi Muslim Council – which claims to represent far more British Muslims than the MCB – said the report misunderstood Ramadan.

It added: “This is not what Islam or Ramadan is about. Ramadan is about training yourself while carrying on with everyday life.”

The Department for Education tried to distance itself from the report last night, and insisted Professor Brighouse was attending the launch only in a “personal capacity”.

A spokesman said it would read the report “with interest”.

The MCB did not comment.

Just highlighting a bit further down in the article.

I do wonder who the Muslim Council of Britain actually stands for - they have some pretty unpopular views (especially with regards to homosexuality and the holocaust).

The are concentrated muslim communities in London (around the Whitechapel area) and in central and northern England (specifically Luton, Leicester, certain parts of Birmingham). The riots from a couple of years ago were up in Bradford (I think).

A lot of activites are already banned in American schools to lower their tort liability.

Yeah - I don't get banning kids playground games and forbidding 'touching'. Kids can't do anything fun nowadays.

All due to certain pathetic people and their lawyers suing schools and various county's over frivolous claims..

The whole thing is just spiralling out of control. Statements like that will only serve to cause more segregation and hatred. It's all extremely worrying.

Our Second Anniversary

I want to succeed in America where, unlike Britain, they do not regard ambition as being the same as eating babies.

The National Rifle Association says that, "Guns don't kill people, people do," but I think the gun helps, you know? I just think just standing there going, "Bang!" That's not going to kill too many people, is it? You'd have to have a really dodgy heart to have that happen.

There's a huge hole in the whole Flood drama, because anything that could float or swim got away scot-free, and it was the idea to wipe out everything, He didn't say, "I will kill everything, except the floating ones and the swimming ones, who will get out due to a loophole."

What is really worrying me is the misrepresentation of the report by MCB in this and other articles. I have to wonder if the authors even read the suggested guidlines at all. I read a similar article last ngiht and was so worried that I did a two second search and read the adobe report myself. All it does is try to make it easier for the muslim students to be true to their faith while being able to go to school. No where does it say these things are manditory, nor could they. I wish we could have similar guidelines in our school systems to make life easier for the Muslim students. Granted not to ban certain activities....which this report never suggests although the article reports it.

I have to wonder where the journalists in England get their education. It's obvious that there is an agenda. Look at the picture of the woman in niqab right next to the article. Tell me that isn't staged. PULeeeease.

Here is the guidlelines that they set out. http://www.mcb.org.uk/downloads/Schoolinfoguidance.pdf
