Hello everyone :) Sorry my first time in USA so I hope you don't mind if I ask a question maybe all of you already knew

I am leaving on Thursday from Manila to Los Angeles via PAL. So I know I need to pay my excess baggage here. What confused me is , after LA i will fly again to Chicago via American Airlines, then from Chicago to Fargo also American Airlines... Now , my question is, do I also need to pay my excess baggage from Chicago to Fargo (1hour and 52 minutes fly) or I will only need to pay my excess baggage from LA to Chicago only.

Sorry for my naive question guys but I will appreciate all the replies .

Thank you very much :)

Are all flights booked on one ticket, i.e. straight from Manila to Fargo? If so, then normally you would pay for all access baggage when you check in for your first flight. Once you connect in LA, you will have to pick up your luggage and take it through customs and hand it to an AA rep. After that, you won't pick it up until you reach Fargo. Just make sure to keep your excess baggage receipt because AA in LA might charge you again for the excess baggage, unless you have the receipt to prove you've already paid.

As everyone said above. If you bought one plane ticket and you are just switching planes then you only need to pay once. If you bought different plane tickets then you pay for each ticket.

I see ... so it's like this Manila to Los Angeles Fare is about 1000 plus $ then LA to Chicago and Chicago to Fargo is about 400 plus $ ... so it means I will pay only LA to Chicago because it is in one electronic ticket. And of course I will also pay for Manila to LA since it's ticket also is separated and it is a different airlines.

I hope I configured it right to your help guys!

Thank you so much!

So excited already :joy:

MNL-LA baggage allowance should be 2 pcs. of 50lbs each of luggage. So you mean you already have an excess on this? It will be very expensive paying excess luggage at the airport; if you are sure that you have an excess luggage at this time, purchase a pre-paid luggage for PAL. As for your Domestic flight within the US, luggage allowance is much more less, check your AA restrictions of luggage and purchase pre-paid luggage if possible.

Hi Cristina... you see I repacked my baggage and now its only 44kg all in all. I know I'm not excess anymore in PAL (Manila to LA) but my problem is I have 3 bags because I really cant fit it all in 2 bags. The weight are 17kg, 18kg and 9 kg. My question is do I still pay for it because they said 23kg for only two baggage each. All in all they baggage allowanced is 46, but mine is only 44kg.

By the way what is prepaid luggage for PAL?

Thank's for your reply ! GOD bless!

Yes, they will only allow you to take 2 check-in bags and carry on. You can take 2 carry on, one hand bag and another small bag (a backpack or a small trolley) should not be more than 7 kgs, You should have bought a large luggage, I know the feeling of cannot fit everything in a luggage considering you still have a few kgs allowance. But that is good having a few kgs below the limit, you cannot really trust your weighing scale compared to the airports' weighing scale.

Sorry, PAL offers you to buy an additional luggage for domestic only.

If you will check-in 3 bags you will pay at least $150.00 additional

Read this:

http://www.philippineairlines.com/flights/all-about-baggage/free-baggage-allowance/travelling-philippine-airlines-pr-and-pal-express/

Double check your AA luggage allowance, domestic flights within US may charge much much more. But they may have a pre-paid luggage you can buy now to match all your luggage to destination.

I hope I am able to help.

During my wife's trip to the US, I was with her. I ended up just leaving my stuff/clothes at her flat, and had her use my baggage allowance which was only one per person (I also paid an additional 100 euro for bringing her dog). We were able to just check in the baggage at her home country airport to our destination airport in the US.
