SC Processing Times

So I just checked (again) the Vermont Service Center filing times for various visas, and there seems to be a HUGE discrepancy. A couple of days ago, the site said that they were processing K1s with receipt dates of July 2006 (don't remember the date) and then after an update on 2/20, it now says that they're processing those with receipt dates in August.

What does this mean? At first, I just thought that they hadn't actually updated the page, but seeing a change from July to August and an updated date of February 20, it makes me wonder.

It just makes no sense, especially since people who'd filed in January are reporting NOA2s, and Vermont is supposed to be the fastest.

Am I reading it wrong or missing an important point?

Those dates are just CYA dates. Meaning they won't talk to you on the phone unless that date has come and gone for over 10 days or whatever it is. The date on your timeline is wwaaaaayyyyy more accurate. Mine was off by one day. And if I remember right(when i used to pay attention to those dates at uscis) it is updated every month or so.

Let me see if I understand....I can't really remember the date on that page, but let's say that it was August 20, 2006. So if I had a receipt date of August 9, 2006, I could (and should) contact the SC.

Sorry for the followup...my timeline says that the petition could be adjuducated as early as March 19 and that if I don't hear from them after 10 days have passed, then I can contact them. Yes? Sorry to be dense.

You can do whatever you desire but the USCIS will not do anything until you are past THERE reported processing dates. They do not care what VJ might say....

YMMV

I just noticed you filed with vermont. You--or your fiancee-- will probably have the visa before uscis reaches that particular date.

I do understand that what is says on VJ is just an estimate based ONLY on the data that people have entered into their timelines and that there are thousands of other people doing this process who've not eben glanced at VJ.

But I was just curious since a date of August whatever seemed fairly arbitrary, and it's not well-explained on that page of their site.

The dates on the site indicate the oldest petition still being processed.

VSC turnaround times these days appear to be less than one month.

Buena Suerte!
