Yes, I just want to know if they can file adj of status.

Only the cases with PD of 15Nov2014 or earlier can be filed for adj of status with USCIS. USCIS is using final action table and not the filing dates table.

So even if we receive our welcome letter, we still have to check the uscis.gov/visabulletininfo ?

Correct, NVC follows filing date table to send out the WL and that's for consular processing.

If the beneficiary is in US and you wanna go for adj of status, you have to follow uscis.gov/visabulletininfo . WL from NVC has no meaning with USCIS.

Hi forum,

My Priority Date: March 2015

My NVC case complete date: Jun 16th 2016.

Right now, I am waiting for my case to become current. I know the current Visa cut off date is Nov 15 2014 (based on July 2016 Visa Bulletin). There is 4 more months to moving forward on the Visa Bulletin to get to my Priority Date.

Based on the experience of you, I hope you can help me answer questions below:

1. Does the NVC only schedules the interview "after" the priority date is current? Or can they process the interview before?

2. If they do the interview before the priority date, how Visa issuing is going to happen? Are they going to put the case on a Visa waiting list? (I heard someone said that they cann't give out a visa before the priority date.)

Best luck to us all. Thank you.

The NVC doesnt normally schedule interview dates before the priority date is current, unless your case as been expedited for some reason.

1. They will give you an interview date "when" your pd is current. However, one will receive an interview date "after" his pd is current when his case is completed late.

2. They don't give out interview dates before your pd is current and once you got your case completed, your application will automatically be included on the wait list.

Also, to save yourself from heartache, assume that your pd will be current in 6 months. VB is so unpredictable. We've been waiting for an interview date since Nov 2015.

Hi TrauCon,

My pd is Feb 2015 and I got my case completed last Nov 25 2015. If I am a US citizen, i would have gotten an interview date months ago...

Myao,

Your PD is coming up. I hope the Visa Bulletin will move month for month, instead month for weeks. On the bright side, our cases have been completed and we are waiting for the interview. I hope we will get that Interview Letter soon.

To be honest, with knowing that they wont sent the Interview Letter before the Priority Date becomes current, I am a little relax now. There is nothing much we can do now except to wait for the Priority to become current. You will get IL before me. Best wishes.

Best regards,

TrauCon

Traucon,

Thanks. But the vb will be moving 2 weeks at most for Aug and Sept vb. So, I am guessing my pd will only be current sometime October and interview date will be sometime November... Just in time for Thanksgiving. :)

Kind Regards,

Myao

Did you submit Police Certificate to NVC? If the interview happens toward end of Nov, do you need to provide a new PC during the interview since old one would have expired by that time?

Hi Arken,

Very good question. I asked my husband and he said his PC does not indicate any expiration date. I think it varies per country / embassy. His country is Singapore. But I'd probably get a new one to be safe or get a new one if the interview letter requires it.

Thanks

Arken,

Police Certificate usually can be good for 1 year. Depends on the time, the Interview Letter will have a list of documents that the Immigrant Officer/Office wants to see. Besides the Police Certificate, paystubs, employment verification..etc will be in the same situation as well.

It is a good idea to bring updated ones to the interview as a precaution. If they need it, then we have it. If they dont, then no hurt either.

Also most of the time, the NVC doesnt send the Welcome Letter to process the case "too" early. They calculate in the time for you to do the payments, paperworks..etc.. and hope to get case completed only few months before the Priority Date become current.

Regards,

TrauCon

Hi forum,

Just to update on the NVC process a little bit, I just got 3 N/A on the CEAC site.

I called the NVC and they informed me Case Complete on May 16th, however the AOS PAID just turned to N/A today. That is 5 days after the Case Complete. I also just called the NVC again to inquire about the Case Complete confirmation email, and they told me it can takes up to 2 week after the Case Complete day to receive one. Best wishes.

Regards,

TrauCon.
