I received the NPIW letter yesterday, dated Sep 9. I'm a January filer, and quite frankly I would've expected this stupid letter to arrive sooner. My medical also already expired in the end of August, so I guess next I'll be hearing from them is an RFE, unless I'm extremely lucky... I guess I just have to keep my fingers crossed... That whole thing about them requiring a new medical is just ridiculous. I mean, if I already cleared once, then what do they think I caught while I was already in the states..? that they're going to somehow miraculously find something in my health that makes me inapplicable? Good grief

Hey Derwood... so if your priority date has been reached by your local office does that mean you can file a service request even if it hasn't been six months since you got the NPIW letter? St Paul says that they're on January 12, 2015 as of July 31st. We filed end of February so in theory the next update should make us current. But we didn't get the letter until June meaning three more months. Does anyone know if your priority date is current for your local office if that means that you should prepare for an interview or just expect to wait for the waiver? Now I'm curious.

Our local office is also St. Paul and we are wondering the same thing, in roughly 4 months from now they should be processing our date....yet we just received the NPIW letter yesterday for 6 months which sounds like it could be much longer?

I read about people waiting a year or more with the letter, did there letter say 1 year or 6 months still? Hoping it goes quick.....

Thanks

As far as I know, all the letters with NPIW have 6 months delay BS on it.

If your local office is still in the timeframe of the processing time (which means they haven't reach your NOA date yet), then you have to wait for that date to come up before you can make any inquiry about your case.

We got ours late in the game as well. Beyond frustrating. My husband got a RFE for vaccinations, but we just redid the entire medical to avoid further RFEs. We filed in July 2014 and received the NPIW letter in January. The RFE came in May and he got approved on 23 July. 364 days. Here's to hoping things run smoothly for you.

Yes the system will allow you to raise a service request in these circumstances. The reply you get probably won't be of any help though and will only serve to increase your frustration. Good luck though! The trend has definitely been that people are getting approved a little bit quicker lately.

I got my NPIW a month ago and I am already getting impatient. I filed in St. Paul as well! I would love to think that they are processing things in order, but I think from the K-1 experience, they are most definitely not doing that. I am having a tough time finding work, tough time making new friends... and all the exciting stuff from moving and celebrating is done. It is getting a little depressing.. Little tougher for me to keep positive.

I hope things move faster for everyone waiting.

I checked our case on the USCIS website and nothing has been updated since January. I had received at NPIW on April 20th, 2015 and I still haven't heard anything. I just did a case inquiry on Sept. 11, 2015 and I should receive a reply by October 3rd. Hopefully we hear something soon.

I guess this is the perfect time to see if service requests actually have any effect with NPIWs since 4 people just submitted them. So if everyone would let us know how theirs turns out that would be amazing. Derwood, I kind of agree that if they don't give any more information than "keep waiting, we aren't concerned" service requests would be frustrating. But the idea that you haven't done everything you can for your application is tough to ignore.

K-1 from Haiti - NOA1: 5/27/2014; NOA2: 7/8 USCIS never updated to say that it was sent to the NVC (just in case you're as concerned about your status not updating as I was about mine)

I completely agree with you and you should bombard them with as many queries as possible. I strongly believe that the coordinated Ombudsman enquiries made by the 'old timers' of this thread did lead to NPIW cases being given better priority. I think in my own way I was just trying to warn you of the frustration that is likely to come your way if you contact USCIS regarding your case. Good luck!
