2 visa at the same time

My wife and I have begun the K3 Spousal Visa process, meaning we have mailed the application and sent the fee in. I am aware that the process may take some time. I would like to surprise my wife by getting a Visitor Visa and airline tickets for her to come for 2 weeks to a month, for Christmas. My question is, can she apply for a Visitor Visa while we are going through the this other process? Can it hurt us in anyway? She has a job, which she would go back to after the trip. She lives with her family and that would also be there for her. She is from the Dominican Republic. She has no children. I would like to start this process as soon possible, so we can try to lock in some decent prices on tickets. Any help would be appreciated!

All you can do is try. You'll be out the visa fee if denied but you certainly are allowed and it's done often.
