Card finally shipped today. When my husband gets home from work he's going to call about the tracking number. That's 4 weeks yesterday he's been waiting. His AP/EAD expires 13th September and if he doesn't get it before the he loses his job. Here's to hoping it gets here soon.

My card also shipped on a Friday and I received it on the Monday. Fastest step of the whole process! :)

Is the Green Card effective date, the date they sent the Welcome Notice?

Date on my card is the day I received the the "Card has been ordered for production" email.

If it shipped today, you should get it within a week. IO told me they send it through 2-day mail. But if it doesn't come soon, don't worry, you can renew your EAD! :)

So I went to Marine corp recruiter today to talk about the documents I need, and to start the paper work, when he saw my Social Security card and my Green card he was confused, because my SSN card is listed as (Valid for work only with DHS autorization). I actually did not notice the problem until I went to talk to my recruiter. He said if I have Green Card I should not have a Social Security card that lists that, and told me go check with SSN office before we can further continue the process.

So I went to SSN officer and told them my SS card has Valid for work only with DHS authorization, and the person asked me if I got my Social Card before Green Card, I said yes. So he had me fill out a form of paper (Same paper as if you first signed up for Social Security card) And after filling out the paper, he logged all my information, and asked me to confirm if all was correct.

I should get a new Social Security card within 10 days that does not list Valid for work only with DHS authorization, and told me to destroy my current card once the new one comes in.

So for those that has their Green Card, and your Social Security card lists that, go check with SSN officer if you have Green Card in hand.

I don't know much about this, but it's ddd that he made you fill out that form. "Only with DHS authorization" essentially means "only if you have an EAD or green card," right? So you would just have to show your green card and you're done.

Oh well, good to know, glad you got that sorted out.

Only with DHS authorization is a restricted social security card, as you can see here. (It will be the 2nd one)

http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/cards.htm

It is for people with EAD / Work sponsor Visa etc.

For people with Green Card, it will be the First Option Unrestricted Social Security Card, which would apply, I am assuming everyone in this thread.

Maybe when you guys got the Social Security card, maybe you guys got the Unrestricted one to start off with, but for me anyways I got the Restricted Card (Only with DHS authorization)

If you guys got the restricted Social Security Card like me, be sure to go back to SS Office (After you receive the Green Card) and let them know you would like to remove the tag

You are totally right in here - even I am in the same boat, once I get my GC - need to remove the condition.

Just some additional information for those who received the Welcome Letter sent from USCIS office in Lee's Summit, MO location. The green cards are actually mailed from Corbin, KY 40701.

Looks like the week started on a better note for me - Got the status update email sometime back from USCIS stating that they mailed the card on 8/22 :wow:

But I don't think the card got picked up by USPS on 8/22, which was Sat !!!

I checked online & there is no tracking # - nor my USPS dashboard showing anything coming my way/address.

I assume it will actually get picked up today.

Can you guys let me know what happened in your case? Do you think I need to call the customer service to get the tracking #? If yes, do I need to speak with the L1 support to get the #?

Your suggestions will be really helpful, as always.

I would say no, do not call. I do not see any reason that you should call. Your card is not lost, it was mailed over the weekend so I will say give it a little bit of time to get to you. You should receive it in a day or two. You will only get the tracking number in your USCIS status update once it has been delivered.
