Hi Every one. I am a little confused. Last week we got a notice that my wifes biometrics appointment is for next Friday. Then today we got notices that her EAD was approved and that the Travel request was also approved. Is this normal? I thought this would have happened after the biometrics?

Completely normal. Not all states seems to require fingerprints for EAD so you'll only do it for your Green Card.

Yeah that's kind of unusual... they need her fingerprints. I just got my EAD card and the actual fingerprint is on the card. I assume that they will not produce the card until she has her biometrics appointment. By the way, even though your appointment is next week, I heard many people just go to the office for a walk-in and they were accepted. You should try to do that if you have the time.

Good News!! My husband received the below email notification this afternoon! I couldn't believe it when I saw the email. It is also updated on the website. We thought there was some type of mistake and called customer service which told us that the Greencard will arrive within 30 days. I guess that means our interview has been waived! We were originally told that Boston and other major cities take a longer time to process the AOS due to volume. As of 8/31 they were processing AOS applications from 1/1. I'm hoping this is a good sign and that others will have their interviews waived too.

There has been a recent processing action taken on your case.

Receipt Number: ************

Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS

Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production

On November 3, 2015, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number ************, and will mail it to the address you gave us. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

This step applies to applications that result in an applicant receiving a card (such as a "green card") or other document (such as a naturalization certificate, employment authorization document, travel document, or advance parole). Applications will be in this step from the time the order to produce the card/document is given until the card/document is produced and mailed to the applicant. You can expect to receive your card/document within 30 days of the approval of your application. If you do not receive your document, please contact our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Congratulations! I know I certainly won't have my interview waived because our situation was an AOS from VWP, so I'm pretty sure that's an automatic interview.

That is definitely not right, because they have to run a background check using the information they collect at biometrics. I also have my fingerprint on my card, so I imagine it's part of the process when the card is produced. Might be worth calling and checking up on this just to make sure as we can only speculate.
