My interview has being scheduled for December 3rd. I filed Aug 20th. I am so excited and nervous. Got my EAD yesterday was approved 21st of Oct

I had a SSN but it has a clause about vaild for work with DHS authorization. Now that I have my EAD , do I need to go to social sercurity office to get it removed .

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe we're stuck with DHS authorization until Green Card.

Yes you do need to bring your EAD card to the SS office to get that removed and they will mail you a new one. My husband is going thru the AOS process and I asked this question when I was changing my name. I showed them his SS card and they said that whenever he gets his EAD card to bring it in and it will get changed.

Applied for SS# this morning. Didn't have an appointment, took 20 minutes (included waiting) - though there were about 100 people in line for all kinds of various things. Very friendly personnel. Will have card in a few days. It helped that I waited a bit before going so that the check in SAVE was immediate and nothing else was required.

Do you know if anyone else here on VJ has done it with the EAD? Threads I've read so far says after Green Card. I don't trust answers from people working at the SSA office because they have no clue how to do their job :P

when we went to do my daughter-in-law's name change (she had already applied for SSN with valid I-94 in maiden name, because her I-94 was expired, they said for her to come back once she has received her EAD, so that's what we plan to do.

Yeah I'm not asking about getting SSN. I have one since 4 years ago and I changed to my married name about 2 weeks after getting married (before filing AOS). I was asking if the DHS authorization was getting removed after EAD or Green Card. I think it's Green Card, since you're not a legal resident until you get your Green Card.
