I wonder what Truman knew actually. We know now that he was kept completely in the dark regarding most war planning until FDRs death. Since the atomic bomb was never classified as an illegal weapon during WW2…it was not murder. Pretty simple.

There were high up people in the US military who opposed the bombing of Nagasaki and saw it as unnecessary. It goes back to what Jacque67 said earlier about it being done for reasons of scientific curiosity.
