I'm going to guess his hatred is coming from the fact his spouse is Chinese. And you know folks who tend to have bigoted views tend to see things in broad strokes. Makes it much easier since rational thinking disproves a large chunk of those beliefs.

What's truly sad is, this type of racist, hateful attitudes is coming from folks married to people from Asia. It's a shame...

I wonder if the folks that are widowed from 9/11 feel the same way.

You are the military expert on here Marvin. ... So you say...

the invasion of Japan could have resulted in the death of twice as many Americans as had already been killed in the European, North African and Pacific theaters!

so sad that you agree that we are mass murders for ending the war in this manner. Of course having a father and uncle's .that would have been part of that wave entering Japan I am eternally grateful .

None of which offers any explanation as to what your apparent issue is with commemorating the deaths at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

We have issues of being told we are mass murders for ending the war without another million or so American lives lost ..... The lefts "revisionist history." ....The hate toward America is strong on this forum.

If you want proof, let me know what you need. DD-214, a copy of my retirement orders, maybe some photos from my ceremony. Anything for you buddy.

Where did I say I agreed the US is mass murderers? I just find it sad you can't find empathy for women or even children who didn't have a say in that war. They were innocent.

In war time, things get ugly. Any leader should have a heavy heart whenever they have to send troops into harm's way knowing that death could be waiting for them. Same thing goes for ordering strikes that involve collateral damage. Since you can't tell the difference between enemy combatants and innocent bystanders, maybe it's best you didn't put on a uniform.

He doesn't need a uniform to go overseas and fight, he is wearing a uniform right here in the U.S. fighting.

Anytime you need to take a shower with a gun, because you are scared the moose or deer will attack you in the shower or Wal-mart something is wrong. Being that LIB lives in a minorityless (my made up word) environment, he must be fighting the War on Bunkerism.

“Nearly 500,000 Purple Heart medals (awarded for combat casualties) were manufactured in anticipation of the casualties resulting from the invasion of Japan; the number exceeded that of all American military casualties of the 65 years following the end of World War II, including the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In 2003, there were still 120,000 of these Purple Heart medals in stock.[60] There were so many left that combat units in Iraq and Afghanistan were able to keep Purple Hearts on hand for immediate award to soldiers wounded in the field.”

Are you from Japan?

Why the need to qualify a person's opinions based on who they are and where they are from? Everyone here is entitled to an opinion whether you agree with it or not. I seriously doubt you would want anyone here to qualify your opinions on a perceived level of intelligence.

I'm an American born and bred. My Grandfather was awarded the Purple Heart in the Pacific Theater of WW2 (Solomon Islands/Guadalcanal). He was the best man I ever knew and he hated the loss of life on both sides of WW2. He wouldn't talk of the war much, but when he did he expressed regret for the lives lost on both sides. If he can do it, there is no reason at all why someone who wasn't there can't do it.

So are we mass murders as touted on this forum for using the bomb or would you have rather had your grand father be on that first wave to hit japan soil ?

Yes we are mass murderers for using the bombs on Japan, but it was a necessary evil at the time for the US armed forces. A lot of innocent people lost their lives in those two bombings and I can sympathize with that. I'm not sure why some here are incapable of making that distinction.
