My fiance sent packet 3 on 1/9 and it arrived in Rio on 1/10 (he sent it via Sedex). The consulate gave us his interview date on 1/23 - 2 weeks after he sent the packet.

I e-mailed a bunch of times and they told me finally that they couldn't send me the date via e-mail. However, the next day someone e-mailed me.

Tem que encher o saco mesmo :)

Some General Advice - As far as getting information from the visa unit in Rio via email, it depends on who answers.... from my experience, i think there are two people, possibly more, but probably not. First, there is the person who quotes your questions and then responds in ALL CAPS.... that person never tells you anything. Then, there is the more polite person who does not quite have perfect english.... which leads to some occasionally hyper-ambiguous answers.

You are better off calling, even if you have to wait 90 minutes for them to answer.

I think Koolaidman is right!!

I was under the same impression that there are 2 people who respond to e-mails as well. One day someone sent me a response saying they couldn't give me the date of my interview via e-mail.

The next day I received an e-mail WITH the date - apparently from another person.
