Failed the medical

Had our medicals today, mine was fine I think but they were not happy with my daughters. Some of her self harm scars are still a bit brown from end of last year and she wants a psychiatric report doing and the psychiatrist to comment on the scars.

None of the doctors who treated my doctor are still at the hospital so we can't get a doctor who knows her to do it. I desperately need to find a psychiatrist to do the report as soon as possible.

Does anyone know of one?

Some people have been told at Knightsbridge to return to Knightsbridge clinic for a psychiatric evaluation. Did they not offer you that ? Did they give you anything in writing to say exactly what is needed.

Your post would reach more in the UK if it was posted in the UK regional forum.

No, she just said to get a psychiatrist to write a report and assess the scars.

Can an admin move the post if that would be better?

Basically they need to know that your daughter is not a threat to herself or others and have those words in writing. Many get their GP to to state that in a a letter and take it to the medical. I guess you have no GP who knows your daughter well enough. I haven't heard of anybody in several years who had been sent to a private psych exam. Some recently were told to come back and see the psychiatrist at Knightsbridge so It seems they had one that came certain days. I guess the circumstances may be different. You might want to check with your GP to see what kind of NHS referral you could get and how long. Or ask about nearby private psychiatric practices.

What part of the UK are you in?

We are in Berkshire, I brought a letter from the GP and her school but the Dr insisted she would need a psychiatric report almost as soon as we started talking about my daughters problems.

Hopefully things will seem less bleak in the morning after we have spoken to a psychiatrist. Part of the problem is the school wrote theory had not seen any evidence of self harm this last year and my daughter stated her last self harming was November 2014. So I suppose time is a factor as well.

I think the best thing to do is take the GP's letter to a private psychiatrist, have him do the assessment and hope for the best.
