We got my husbands NOA for his AOS, EAD and AP in the mail yesterday! :)

We went to get his ID today and they refused to issue it because my husbands NOA doesn't count as a valid form of address even though it's government issued and it clearly states that government issued paperwork counts as a valid form of address.

I did all of the research in advance and brought all the correct paperwork required by the state of Illinois yet the DMV didn't want to issue my husband an ID. They don't know how to do their jobs properly. That made me upset but on the bright side, at least we got our NOA.

Has anyone else gotten their U.S. ID with the K1 visa?

I was able to put my fiancé's name on my apartment lease as the secondary person habitating the apartment which seemed to help. We also opened a bank account with his name on it at our address....my suggestion from dealing with DMVs in different states would be to just go to the next closest DMV office. The employees there might be less of ### hats. Also I've had better luck with real small town DMVs.

We brought our apartment lease as well as the NOA . We were going to bring our joint bank statement but it exceeded the 30 days that's required to prove your address.

I double checked after we went to the DMV and the NOA notice is considered a valid form of ID. The people at the DMV here in Chicago have been known to be rude to everyone and even fail people on their drivers test for no reason. Can you believe rhat?

They had every reason to give him an ID but they made up the lie about his form of address not being valid just to be a**holes. It's ridiculous how they can get away with rejecting people when they have all the proper documentation.

Tomorrow before work, we're going to get a new joint bank statement, bring our apartment lease and the envelope from the social security administration with my husbands name/address and go to the DMV again. They're going to have to do their jobs right and give him an ID and I'm not leaving until they do, haha.

Not everyone at the DMV knows how to handle cases like this. I was able to get a get a DL with the Marriage Cert,Passport,I-94, USC Passport and some bank letters in the mail

Went to Pflugerville DoPS to get my drivers license today, took my passport, SSN letter, bank letter with home address and copy of I-94, went without a hitch, passed the knowledge test (I didn't realise I had to take, as I thought my Aussie license exempted me, but wasn't the case). Now I just have to get into DoPS at 7:30 am ASAP to do a test, they do it 1st come 1st served here.... Never seen that before.

For those who have sent their AOS EAD AP to the Chicago Lockbox - how soon after it arrived did you get a notification by email or text message? (because of the G1145)

It took 6 days for them to notify us via text/email. We live in Chicago so perhaps it got to them fast but I would say it might take about a week or two depending on when they receive your application. ?

SSN was a piece of cake in NV. 45 minutes is all it took and it was mailed to me a few days later.

Marriage licence was also a breeze (They kinda specialise in fast weddings here :) )

Next stop... Wedding next week

Then it's time to get back to the paperwork for EAD, AP and Green Card

All I know so far is that we need the certified marriage certificate which takes about 10 days - in which time I will do all the form filling - I also know it's $1,070

Anyone in this process now? Feel free to share your latest findings - THANKS!

Kev

I'm in the process too but I already filed back in November and got in February my EAD with AP. Still waiting for any movements of my GC

Good news on the NOA's!!! So I expect we should get ours next week

Sabrina and Chuck's timeline shows 77 days to EAD and AP, so I'm hoping that will be at least as good for the rest of us 8-)

Yes! You should be getting your notification around next Monday - unless they work the weekend.

And we can race to the (next) finish line.

Thanks for the reminder about the Timelines... d'oh! I completely forgot about the official Timelines - as opposed to just the signatures we're using. I have updated mine now. If we are looking at around 77 days then I am hoping to get EAD in hand by the end of May. Ready to dive back into the job market on June 1st :)

We got the biometrics appointment in the mail today too!

Our NOA is February 23rd and the biometrics appointment is scheduled March 25.

I hope I can get off work early that day to attend the biometrics appointment with my husband.

I actually think i'm going to be sick. I finally arrived on Friday after my flight was delayed and just an all round mess. It's been great being with my fiance and i'm so happy. Today is the first time i am sitting down and gathering my thoughts and thinking of the next steps. That is when the horrible reality dawned on me. I just realized that in the frenzy of my move i packed all my documentation including my birth certificate into a box that i shipped over here!!! It will take about 8 weeks! How could i be so stupid and i don't have a copy of my birth certificate anywhere. I just can't believe it, i'm praying for some miracle that there's a compartment in my suitcase i forgot about. I can't do anything till i get it! :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
