My case is now in Transit to the consulate in Albania, I cannot believe it, things are moving much faster.

TO everyone who has not received their NOA2 or still waiting for the NVC, I have just one word PATIENCE. I know it is hard all of us that are awaiting for interview and the next steps have been there and know what you are going through but you just need patience and take things slowly. I wish you all the best of luck and fast approvals.

I am extremely nervous for my fiancées interview!

He's having his medical exam in 7 days and then we're scheduling the interview at the Bosnian embassy.

I've spent hours upon hours on visajourney preparing everything we need but I'm still scared what if one little thing goes wrong and he's God forbid denied. I would be absolutely heart broken and devastated.

I heard Bosnia isn't that strict but there's always a possibility that theres something the U.S officer might not like.

What if they have a problem with me not earing enough money and having to get a co-sponsor? What if they think its suspious that we don't want to have a wedding? What if my fiancé gets nervous and messes up on an answer?

There's only so much I can do to make sure his interview goes perfectly.

I hope and pray every night that his interview is approved and he gets the visa. I day dream about our future here in Chicago every single day.

Does anyone have any tips to put my mind at ease? I'm a nervous wreck.

So we decided today to call the NVC anyway even though we don't plan on going to the interview for another 9 months or so.

We got through the very first time calling and had to wait ~15 minutes to talk to a person, we were prepared for much worse with all the phone horror stories going around here. The case number was already assigned and it was sent to the consulate in Germany today. We don't really know when they got our case but that's not really information that matters.

Finally got our NOA2 yesterday!!! It was difficult watching everyone nearing interview stage/ finish line while we were still stuck at the start line, so to speak.

Sumeja, I am worry about the same things and it has lead to a few panic attacks this month too. So we are all here for you and understand what you are going through. This site helped me a lot because y'all understand the stress that this separation and visa process takes and my family/friends don't.

It seems like your prepared and now it just time to be patient that the all your work pulls through. I believe that everything is going to go great!

One thing I decided to do was to stop following this forum because I kept getting daily updates in my email so every day I was checking this site and reading people struggles, which made me stress out even more because I am like that could happen to me. I come to this discussion now every few days or when I want to update my status, which has kind of calmed me down.

Also I was reading on this forum, that hobbies during the waiting process helps and that patience is key. I liked how someone suggested instead of talking to my fiance about our visa situation (which I am extremely sad to admit does take over our conversations most days) is to practice me learning his native language (Assamese) so I can talk to his parents which I am extremely excited about.

I hope this helps!

Quick question for the experts: We got our NOA 2 on 9/1 so our file has not make it to NVC yet that we know of. We did not plan on things happening so fast. Our plans are for my girlfriend to return with me to the States the middle of August 2016.

When and how should I request an extension? At the NVC or at the embasy?

We would like to schedue the medical exam and interview in March.

Thanks in advance

Your petition is valid for 1 year after the notice date on your official NOA 2 hardcopy. I know right now it says it's only valid for 4 months, but the embassy will (usually) automatically extend the petitions validity for 4 months at a time. Just keep in touch every now and then with your girlfriend embassy so they know what's going on. We don't actually plan to go to the interview until June of next year, so we're somewhat in the same situation as you guys.

Best of luck.

Call your embassy for interview extensions. Remember they will only give you up to a year from when your application was approved.

You can always check step 3 here. :) Then you can call them when you see it's around your NOA2 date. That's what we did.

Thanks, inkasminka. I'd seen those charts but thought there might be a more specific method.

It was the same for us. :)

Are you guys gonna wait for them to contact you?

See my reply below.

Yeah, from the information I've gathered, you have to wait for the packet 3 email from the embassy in order to proceed and schedule your interview.

I see we're applying at the same consulate in Bosnia. Did they send you the email yet? Have you started gathering all the required documents?

My fiancé is all set for his interview, he just has to attend his medical exam and we're ready ☺️

Good luck!

Reading through the application steps for your Embassy found here: http://sarajevo.usembassy.gov/niv-step-by-step-guide.html it looks to me that if you call NVC after NOA2 notification and get your case number you can begin the process on your end while NVC completes your record and forwards your packet to the Embassy. No need to wait for contact from them, which I predict could save you a month.

Let us know how this works if you choose to try it.
