Once you have a case number and NOAII hard receipt, you can start preparing for your interview without waiting for the packet. Most of the VJ embassy forums already post what the packets details so you can start working on those documents. Most police certificates require you to be at the NOAII stage to be able to request a police certificate and to set up an dr's appointment. So basically if you have the case number and the NOAII, you can start working on gathering documents while the NVC is still mailing your case.

Actually, you do not have to wait for the NOA2 at SOME embassies to proceed with the "next steps". Some only require to know the case number, so it's best not to answer with the need for both.

Police certificates do not require a NOA2 to process. Some require a letter from your embassy that states that it is required for the interview but not necessary at most. Just the information they are asking for and the processing payment. Details here. http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html

Yes, you may need the NOA2 for medical but some embassies do not require it as they will accept an screen shot of the appointment confirmation page. Be sure to check your own embassy for their details.

Your statement "So basically if you have the case number and the NOAII, you can start working on gathering documents while the NVC is still mailing your case." is correct. But, if you have just your case number, for some embassies, that is all you need to proceed with gathering of your documents which is also correct.

Anyone had trouble receiving their NOA2 hardcopy? We're in Australia, so it takes a little bit longer, but when I thought it arrived late last week I opened the envelope to find a second copy of our NOA1, which had already come weeks before? Very strange. Hopefully hardcopy shows up by the end of this week.

I'm so glad I found this thread!

I got my NOA1 on August 7 and NOA2 on August 20 (13 days only!) from California service center. I'm not sure if this helped at all but I made everything extremely organized with a cover letter and folders with a binder. So I think it didn't take them long to find everything they were looking for and approved it fast!

I've been calling NVC every single day. It took me over 150 calls to get through to NVC, I'm not even exaggerating! Only to find that they still haven't recieved my case :(

Is there anyone that has a NOA2 date close to mine (August 20)? Has NVC recieved your case yet?

I talked to someone that got their NOA2 from Texas service center around the same time I did and their case was already processed by NVC and is sent to the embassy! Meanwhile, NVC hasn't gotten my case yet.

Maybe it's because mine was approved at Cali service center and theirs was Texas.

I'm hoping that by this week or next week the latest, NVC will give me good news that they got my case ☺️

Good luck everyone!

Hi, Sumeja!

I received my NOA1 on August 3rd, and my NOA2 on August 14th from the California service center. I called the NVC today and was told to call back when it's been 35 days from my NOA2 date, which is 10 days from now. So, I'm assuming they haven't received mine yet, either! But don't worry, I'm sure they'll get them soon. =)

NOA-2!!!!!!!!!! :joy: I'm too excited. Was very worried as it took longer than most (28 days after NOA-1). At least it's approved and didn't get an RFE! Hope NVC goes quickly and there are basically no beneficiaries (or veeeeery few) in Saudi Arabia so I'm hoping that it won't take long to get an interview (L):D

It does't have to do with your organisation of the petition. I organised mine extremely well with cover letters, in sheet protectors with labeled tabs all in a three-ring binder. It was beautiful. I just got approved this morning not too long before writing this post, and it took 28 days from NOA-1.

I organized mine extremely well too. Cover letters, in sheet protectors with labeled tabs all in a three-ring binder as well. I even included a bonus thank you letter for reviewing my petition. I suppose it all depends on how many petitions they're working on at the moment.

Congrats to all those receiving their NOA2's.

Just a little history, about 2 years ago is when we were going through this process and the period between NOA1 and NOA2 was 3 MONTHS. Yes you read that right 3 months. Wow, I just felt all the oxygen leave the room.

USCIS has indicated that they prefer the applicant use a large "binder clip" and if you want to use tabs they prefer that you attach them to the bottom and not the sides. I look at from their standpoint. They must process a certain number of cases each day and if they have to rifle though, tabs, staples, clips, binders, cute photo books it's just going to slow them down.

So please people, give that some thought next time you submit papers. Neat and orderly is what they want.
