Thanks for the gratz on our marriage.... AND Gratz to all who have recently married.... These are exciting times for all of us

Essiej, Sorry to hear about the unforseen expense... I know the feeling :( and I hope that you are able to get the funds together for the AOS soon

I am in the process of putting our AOS paperwork together and have a question about the AP. Namely that the AP requires a date in the future and I've not booked or planned a trip back to Aussie yet. Is it best to just not fill that form out or put a random date on the form?

We, personally, have decided that we probably won't travel out of country, to be on the safe side, until my work permit/Green card has been issued, only due to the fact that there seem to have been people who have been rejected at POE when re-entering the USA after leaving with a valid AP.

Thanks for your feedback, in advance

USCIS informed me they recieved our AOS petition and forwarded it to the national benefits center.

They gave me a reciept number but when I try entering the # online to check the status of my case, it comes up as an error as if the reciept # doesn't exist. Perhaps it takes a few days for them to enter it in the system. Has this happened to anyone before?

Yes same thing happened to us.

2 days after - it started to work (don't panic yet)

lueds, I don't think an exact date is really important - you can either leave it blank or pick one. I think you should still file for it, even if you have no plans to travel. It's no additional cost when submitted with your AOS application, and you'll have it if an emergency pops up and you need to leave the country before your green card arrives.

Essiej, that's great news!

We're going send the AOS/EAD/AP packet, next week. I was hoping to get it in the mail today, but won't make it to the Post Office before closing.

Brilliant news!!

We're going to go print our certified copy of the marriage certificate from a kiosk tonight - open 7 days a week until midnight (gotta love Vegas for the ease of marriage process!) and then all the AOS / AP / EAD is getting done in one loooooong day tomorrow (I hope!)

Reckon I can get in in the mail in a few days time. Setting intent and saying THANKS for EAD by 1st June.

Good luck everyone - wherever you are in your process - just remember to breathe in... and breathe out... (and repeat)

Hi everyone! My husband and I finally filed our adjustment of status application today! Good luck to everyone that's recently recieved their SSN and gotten married. ? we live in Chicago and the USCIS is also in Chicago so maybe our application will get there as early as tomorrow.

It's been a long journey since August, I'm glad we're almost at the finish line.

I sent the visa application in August 5, my husband recieved his visa November 2, entered the US on November 20th, recieved his social security card on December 10, we got married on December 23rd and we finally sent his adjustment of status application today! We've been incredibly lucky that our process has been fast. I just hope that we don't get ant RFE for the adjustment of status!

Has anyone else submitted their adjustment of status application yet?

Hey Sumeja, how are you doing? Did you receive any confirmation text or NOA1 for your AOS process? My packet was received by the USCIS on Feb 22.I'm waiting to hear anything. I filled out one 1145..but that was it

I'm good, thank you!

Yes, we got a text/email update exactly one week after we submitted our AOS. The email came really late, like 11:30 pm. I didn't know USCIS worked that late lol.

We got 3 separate notifications, one for AOS, one for employment authorization and one for advanced parole. So, each application will be processed separately.

Be patient :) they'll probably get to your petition sometime this week. We applied on the 18th and the packet was recieved the next day so it was in their lockbox 6 days before they got a chance to get to inform us they've accepted the petition. Keep me updated. And good luck!

Congratulations to all of those who are now in the US and married! I'm very happy for you all.

Our case hasn't moved for quite a few months now. We have to stall the process for another few months because the timing just wasn't right. I'm supposed to have my visa by now moving over in June / July. But now June / July is when we'll go to the interview and I'll go over for the Christmas season 2016. Half a year difference, but it will help with the timing.

The consulate in Germany has been extremely nice and very helpful. They always respond to all emails within one business day and they've extended the validity of our petition once for now. My fiancée will have to send them another letter at the beginning of April.

I'm fine with everything though, gives us more time to save some money.

Only took a few days. So much better than the I129f process. Great relief to be getting this pile of papers in the mail soon.
