I agree it should go by CC, if it's by NOA1. I'd like to think I am a more simple case, and I did everything right the first time with submission of documents and not getting an RFE - only to have to wait longer for an interview than everything else before it.

USCIS is luck of the draw. Lots of people waited 5+ months for their approvals for cases with no RFEs (mine included, thanks Nebraska!). NVC is a whole other ballpark, especially after the system failure (some are still waiting for their DS260s to be reviewed more than a month after the problem was "fixed" and their forms were submitted). It's definitely not an even playing field, all things considered.

(I'm just a bitter 2014 filer, don't mind me. :devil: )

CR1 Visa

10/03/2014 Priority Date (NOA1)
03/18/2015 NOA2
03/30/2015 NVC Received
04/09/2015 Paid AOS fee + DS261

---NVC system error---
05/18/2015 Scan Date
05/27/2015 DS261 reviewed over phone (after several attempts)
06/11/2015 IV fee invoiced (not available online)
06/16/2015 Checklist

06/27/2015 Checklist Scan Date
07/05/2015 IV fee available online (paid)
07/08/2015 DS260 available (completed)

07/20/2015 CASE COMPLETE!
08/21/2015 Received Case Complete letter dated 8/17/2015
12/01/2015 Interview Scheduled (134 days from CC)
12/14/2015 Received Interview Appointment email (P4)
12/22/2015 Medical Exam

12/30/2015 CEAC changed to 'ready' (no 'in transit' message)
01/14/2016 Interview (178 days from CC) RESULT: APPROVED!
01/18/2016 CEAC changed to "Issued"
01/21/2016 Visa In Hand!!

(F)

475 days from NOA1 to visa in hand (1 year, 3 months, and 18 days)

Many cases take longer to be completed not because the applicants did something wrong, but very often because the USCIS/NVC messed something up along the way.

If you think logically, people with older priority dates have been away from their spouses for much longer. I doubt anyone would do that on purpose..

We have done everything right the first time, just like you. We overnighted everything to USCIS and NVC, paid fees the minute they were available, triple-checked all forms.

We never got a RFE or a Checklist for anything we did wrong, but we've been unlucky to:

- have our I-130 sent to the Nebraska Service Center (which is never faster than 5 months for the NOA2);

- dealt with NVC's website issues that prevented us from filling our DS-260 for over a month;

- had the NVC lose our police certificates (even though we wrote the case number on the top corner, as advised). We had to mail again, adding another 30 days for review;

I totally agree with you, toozler. Our I-130 took the usual 5 months in Nebraska; then NVC got the approved case in January and immediately messed up my name and my wife's date of birth (took a while to get those fixed); I was about getting ready to fill DS-260 when NVC decided to send our already-approved case back to USCIS (called USCIS and was told they had no idea why the case was sent back); we lost about 2 months in the process; we later got a checklist for not filling out DS-260 (a document NVC would not make available because the case was sent back to USCIS); finally completed DS-260 and it took them 50 days to review.

So, if there were no mistakes by NVC on our case, we probably would have had CC in April.

That's all so sad

If only I know before what know now on filing this spouse visa I would have applied 2 years ago. My wife visa would have been ready by now. The only reason we didn't apply early was I thought the visa might come too early before her work contract done.
