I reckon they will give us the whole, we need 30 days to review your documents spill. I plan to check in once a week after they have confirmed they have my documents. I called today and they claim they didn't get it, it was delivered yesterday. I will check again tomorrow.

I don't know what much else can be done after they start reviewing it but to wait.

I want it to go fast lol.

I guess you can research where you will have to do medical exam, and read through the consulate specific instructions...

If you guys have any questions specifically for me,

I will be glad to help via private message.

Good point, that is practical.

No no. you have sent a copy of your passport which is a proof of your US status.

Also, no you don't need to send the proof of relationship. It is in fact only for the USCIS and the interview.

You have to send in a copy of the petitioners passport??!? I didn't read that anywhere.

We have to prove our US status for NVC?

Yes you have to prove your status as a US citizen. I sent my birth certificate. I don't have a passport, I'm terrified of traveling.

Oh my lord ... Really? Where does it say that?

I didn't see ANYWHERE not even the VJ posts or NVC Wiki that we have to prove we (the petitioner) are a U.S. Citizen.

I mean my Passport copy was sent to USCIS.

Where does it ask for the proof of citizenship? I'm a US born citizen.

Based on what I understand the NVC already has that information. Our case says IR1/CR1 so the NVC has in our system a visa for the spouse of a US citizen.

I wasn't aware we need to provide additional proof.

Yes, me either. This is the first time I'm hearing about this.

I'm kind of flipping out right now. I've dotted my i's and crossed my t's and it'll be very frustrating if I receive a checklist to prove my own citizenship status.

Like you said I thought it was determined due to IR1/CR1 status.

Which 864 did you fill out? It may be different for certain packages, not sure

I-864EZ

I think we should be good. If they send us such a checklist for that, I will call them and tell them please don't waste my time lol.

If they didn't specifically ask for petitioner's documents for your case, you should be okay. I864ez does not require passport or citizenship proof from petitioner. They mainly care about the beneficiary at NVC and your ability to support visa applicant.

At the NVC stage, for IR-1/CR-1 visa applicants, petitioners do NOT have to send in proof of US citizenship. I repeat, you do NOT have to send in US citizenship.

Everyone, if you want an overview of the NVC process (as well as the steps afterwards for medical, interview, etc), then I highly suggest you read the wiki I wrote. It's linked in both the first post as well as in my signature below.
