It is tedious I know. But we don't have any other option. Just call and ask.

When we send all AOS and IV documents, what documents we need to send Originals? I think most of them are copies only. But I think we need to send some originals like I-864 etc. Do we need to notarize the copies that we mail them?

I agree with you, the original I-864 form. If you are using IRS transcripts I understood that to mean the originals would be sent.

I think for the copies as it is a good quality copy then you would be ok. I am not aware of any additional requirements.

I'm sending in the original birth certificate for my spouse along with the original marriage certificate as well

Question - When the DS-260 is available, can I complete it for my immigrant spouse (beneficiary)?

Or must it be my spouse who completes it?

Please do not send originals to NVC. Just a photocopy and take originals with you to Interview. That has been the new policy since November 2014.

Are you worried about getting the originals back? The consulate needs to see originals of these documents during interview.

I thought I was to send the originals to NVC. I've set up my package to send original birth certificate AND marriage certificate.

MY THOUGHT was that the NVC would than mail the whole package to the embassy/consulate who would than have it during the interview.

IS THIS NOT CORRECT???

So than I should send copies??!?

Correct, nvc needs only legible copies and/or copies of translated documents. Cerified copys if necessary.

Originals and copies must be brought to interview, check the pdf for consulate for specific instructions

Thank you all for replies. I got the job recently. I have not filed the tax returns last year and in my life time. I was a student earlier. As I can not send tax returns as I did not file at all. I am sending the salary letter from the employer. Do I need to send that Original Employer Salary letter to NVC?

No, i do not think they want originals for salary letter. Obviously, anything they specifically request to be original, needs to be so. Call to be sure

REMINDER: Make sure everyone makes 3 COPIES of the whole package being sent to NVC.

One for you, one for your spouse to take to interview, and one for consulate at time of interview. They get copies forwarded from nvc and may require to see originals.

Hello,

Has anyone here managed to talk to the NVC today?

I've called them 30 times and all I get is that "All our lines are busy" message. I'm currently in Asia, so my day is going to end soon.

They misspelled my name, so it's kind of important that I talk to them ASAP

I was under the assumption that NVC would just put them in a package and send it to the consulate.

I could have sworn I read somewhere on here people sent original marriage certificate and birth certificate than the embassy handed to the spouse after the interview was conluded.

I see what you are getting at and very likely it should be sent over to the Embassy. However, to be on the safe side I would think sending them back to your spouse would be better. I cringe when I think what is going on at the NVC, documents getting lost and all that good stuff.
